Just did an export of my spending for the year to do a full breakdown. I spent almost $2k on liquor in the 6 months before I went into treatment:

February: $553.25
March: $418.04
April: $14.75
May: $150.38
June: $92.24
July: $283.16
August: $387.70

Total: $1,899.52

That amount comes out to 40 handles, but it’s probably about 2x since this doesn’t include what I bought with cash or drank with others paying.

Im shocked. But most importantly I’m grateful to be sober today. Keep working it gang!

Starting on my journey to sobriety today from sex addiction. I’ve been clean from alcohol for several years but my therapist has pushed me to start attending AA meetings in addition to SAA meetings. I know I can’t overcome this alone.

Feeling so frustrated and scared. I am trying my hardest to be loving to my brother who is addicted to many things. My family has been encouraging him for years to get real help. He’s finally semi-agreed to go to a detox facility and then rehab. However, those are far away from where we all live now. My 70+ dad wants to fly with my brother there to make sure he goes. been in downward spiral since COVID, struggling with being alone, loved the travel, teams. got depressed and angry. Dreaded work. In the process got to drinking 4 up to 15 drinks most days. Gained weight. Didn’t care about living. Have tried to stop over and over. Last week I woke up with a bloody nose and for the first time cared. I don’t know what changed. I am 7 days sober and I am starting to feel like the me I remember! I am proud! I am thankful! I just needed to share!

My dad has a problem with alcohol. When he stops drinking for a day he clearly exhibits all the signs for alcohol withdraw. Shaky hands, sweating insomnia. I’m so tired of seeing him fall. My mom has passed away (they were long divorced) so I really don’t have anyone to turn to. How can I be supportive without being an enabler? He has lost the last three jobs and is currently jobless and will must likely need my financial help soon.

This time last year I knew I needed to stop drinking, but I couldn’t. This year, though, I’m putting my health first. Starting day 2 of sobriety and hope to keep it up. Thanks to this group for all the support and encouragement shown to those of us struggling with such powerful addictions.

Took today off to work on my oldest daughter’s truck and watch Stranger Things 4:8 & 4:9 with my youngest . So grateful for AA. I have the relationships I only dreamed of when I was an active drunk.
