Hello, I'm Sr Cloud Engineer, have experience with AWS (used to work for AWS), GCP and Azure. background in networking and security in the cloud space. Just wondering what type of jobs i can be applying for in google. Is there a way to tell from the job title at what level it's for (I understand you get tested on your knowledge and based on that you get your level).
You generally cannot tell level from external postings unless it’s obvious (eg Director).
When you apply you’re given a general level by recruiter based on your experience and then you’re evaluated against that +/-1
Ah I see similar to AWS
Let's start with what you want to do. Do you want to join Google and help create our product, do you want to be a pre sales engineer for cloud, or instead a consultant for cloud?
I was thinking pre sales engineer or architect (for architect role in just not sure what they are looking for). I have AWS SA associate and sysops admin associate and am about to take AWS SA pro. Should I also get the GCP solutions architect certification to give me a leg up when applying?
Customer engineer is our pre sales role.
You can aim for security specialist (security for pre sales)
Or you can aim for a security and compliance consultant role (security architect focused on helping clients get onto Google once they are a signed client)
The positions are organized from easiest to hardest. Well not easiest....more accurately I would say....most roles available to least roles available.
Don't worry about the level for now. Your level depends on how well you interview - your interviewers are actually who determine your level.
