Likely getting an offer soon - already have planned vacation starting Tuesday until the new year. Do I give notice before I get the written offer/background check so I can leave before holidays but risk offboarding during vacation or give notice my first day back? I am project manager in clinical research industry (CRO). After earning PhD, I gave up my science dream to take a more stable job. After slowly climbing the ladders, I feel like I finally got a seat at the table. Half the days I like the hustle, but now I miss being creative. I want to take more brainstorming, decision making responsibilities but I don’t see that in the career path for PM. Career path usually goes like this- Sr PM, Director l, Sr Director, and so on. But all do same work.

I resigned this morning!
After grinding thanklessly for the past 8 months, getting burnt out, and having nothing to show for it, I’ve decided to walk away.

The company has a toxic culture; which I tolerated but upon resigning their treatment has escalated.

During this 2 week notice, I am expected to present 3 giant proposals (that I also need to produce), and force in about 2 months’ worth of tasks.

Where am I legally as an employee to say I won’t be able to complete all of their requests?

Anyone else having a hard time finding a job in what they want to do?! I know that times are tough right now but jeez, I feel like I need a PhD to even have my resumé be looked at! I would love to get back into the athletics world, but can’t seem to get through to an interview!

For example, I worked at a trade show company (before CoVID event industry layoffs) and loved the balance of office & show travel. Looking to make a career pivot and don’t know if I should outright quit and take a breather from work (I have enough savings) to visit family abroad or take FMLA, knowing I would quit immediately after. Do you think I’d burn bridges by taking FMLA, then quitting 2 weeks later? The only reason I’d do that option is for financial reasons and to have income while I am visiting family.

I love my boss and my team but hate the work. I've been there for over a decade and the pay is good but the hours and stress are extreme. Been interviewing and although the work seems more exciting, not sure I should give up the safe option. The company I work does not have the most clear HR policies and environment. For some reason we always feel like in a persecution.

Hello everyone, does anyone have any advice for someone who recently graduated with an MBA from DePaul University and is trying to leave their current job? Looking for advice…I have been told that transitioning into L&D should be “easy” given by experience and skills (20+ years in education as a teacher, counselor, district administrator, higher ed. program director, Academic Affairs Assoc. Dean plus part-time instructional designer). I have an EdD in Leadership (School-system) and an MA in Counseling Psychology.

I have applied for various position levels from specialist to Director with no luck. Any ideas for what level I should be applying for?
