2nd year at midsize firm making 150k with 1700 billable hour requirement.

Got an in house offer at global company for 130k, $5000 signing bonus. They know I make 150k.

What’s the appropriate counter offer? Don’t want to be offensive because I really want this job, but also want to look out for my best interests. Boston market, IP counsel position.

Would you ever leave consulting to join a small business? And I don’t mean a tech startup. More of a small but profitable family owned business with growth potential. Significantly higher pay, leadership position, some equity, WLB. If it doesn’t work out how hard would it be to move back to Consulting or another big company after 2-3 years? How would hiring managers view the move?

I received feedback that I didn’t show up as strong in technical experience but was offered 2 other roles as a Senior Product Marketing Manager that they thought I’d be a strong fit for.

Hey Consultants who are Indians, have you ever been asked about your caste by your colleague. I had a Partner(Naturalized Indian American) asking me “so, are you a brahman who eats everything?” Although he asked in a casual setting, I felt super uncomfortable and ignored that question. The worst thing is he was on the team that hired me. So, I wonder how much caste bias(assumptions) plays a role in hiring. Anyone else has other similar stories?

Hi all - my company filed an LCA and H-1B amendment as I moved work locations. While the H-1B amendment is pending, can I use my previously approved I-797 to submit a visa stamping renewal application and take that I-797 to my interview? Or do I have to wait for the new I-797 with the amendment?
