Hadn’t noticed this sub before, and most of the threads are old so thought I’d ask a follow up - how has everyone been handling parenting with public accounting? I’ve got a toddler and my wife is an accountant (industry), and we only have a few immediate family in the country- but they have health concerns. Busy season was rough, things are looking better now as things return to normal. Still working crazy hours if you count the daycare duties on top of utilization targets.
Anyone willing to provide a referral for a PwC consulting role in Australia? I’m currently in the US and looking to move for new opportunities.
I have been approached by one of the biggest global management consulting firm for a position that requires 2+ years of experience and in locations which were not on the table in screening with hiring manager. As someone who comes with 6+ years of global experience, how would you recommend managing the opportunity? Particularly, how should I engage with the HM and recruiter and keep the door open for future opportunities that match the value and experience I bring to the table? (Urgent help)
So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. They suggested that we put SPHR ( Lapsed). I let it lapse in 2017. What is your opinion? Plus if I were to take another certification - should I take SPHR or SHRM-SCP?

I have an early interview soon for a senior strategist role at an NYC agency. It’s still very preliminary, but I’d like to have a reasonable salary range ready just in case it comes up. From Googling, I’ve seen everything from ~$77k to ~$135k. With my ~6 years of experience, what would be a fair starting range for me to suggest?

Going through a rough time in my marriage. Been together for 5 years and married for 1. Couple of days back he was acting very aloof and when I asked him about it, he said it’s because I have not been close with him since we got married. And that I did things which caused him hurt even in the past. I was very hurt because of all this, and took a flight response where I don’t speak with him anymore. It’s because I felt like my personality was being attacked. How have you guy’s overcome (cont...)

I have accepted a mid size company 6 months contract staff accountant role. However, I will have interviews with couple of large companies by the same week of my start date. My question is, if I’m lucky enough to get the offer, is it bad to leave the contract after a couple of months? I don’t see any legal restrictions.
Hey everyone, I’m currently an environmental engineer, but my first job was at Accenture for 3 years as a functional tester mostly. It’s been 4 years since I left Accenture and I’m looking to get back into the tech and/or consulting space, but not as a tester. What path would you all recommend where I can be hired above entry level without having directly relevant experience?
I’ve heard that when negotiating salary it’s best to give your minimum number needed to make a move. Why is that? Don’t you run the risk of getting the minimum and not more that way?

Hi everyone! I am currently a CW at Meta. I had just successfully gone through the hiring loop for a full-time position when the hiring freeze was announced. I have very little time left in my current contract and am not sure about the stability of contract roles going forward. Is anyone here willing to offer a referral, or know if any open roles? Paid social, ad sales, ecomm, CPG and beauty experience.
I work in events and at each event my manager hires her friend who works with us for the duration. Everyone on my teams loves him but at the last event he spent the entire event undermining me and any time he disagreed he would go to my manager to get a different answer. She’s now talking about getting him back in a bigger capacity. I found him lazy (he would disappear on his phone) and obviously would constantly undermine me. What should I do? I feel like talking to my manager is a no go

Cont. from Previous Post 3 mos 8 rounds: Thank you for your interest in NR. We appreciate the time you took to apply for the CSM position. We were very fortunate to have a strong group of applicants to consider for this role and have recently filled this position. Unfortunately, because this role is no longer available, we will not be moving forward with your application. We will hold onto your application, and if a position opens that closely matches your skillset, we may contact you.

Hi, nice to meet you! Early career woman in tech here!
Any advice for knowing when it is right to move to another company? I want to make sure I keep progressing and am casually looking at roles after three years and two promotions at my current company.
How do you overcome the condescending comments made to you in a male dominated industry? It seems like often times when I get on a business call, many of our clients are surprised to see me on the other side of the call, as I am a young female in Tech. I often hear comments that downplay my ability, such as “let’s not get ahead of ourselves here” or having things mansplained as if I am completely in knowledgeable. Will there ever be a time where we have to stop trying to prove our abilities?
