Ah, yes. Had a toxic project / client. Pushed for a roll off (though it took several months) and took a long vacation to recover. Is it possible to take a leave of absence?

like

Yes. If you have resources to do so, I would suggest to do so, to help reset yourself. I have also done a leave of absence but it wasn’t enough time plus there were return expectations and terms I had to agree to which ultimately negatively impacted me in the long run.

Yep I felt like that for first 10 years of my career. Just circulate your resume it feels great to get interviews and offers it’ll make you feel so much better!!

Who’s pushing you to leave a job? I was laid off during the recession but I’m guessing that doesn’t count

Maybe i phrased this wrong — have you ever been mentally / emotionally drained / overworked from being in a role / industry that you know you don’t want to be permanent for the long haul. And you need to leave to escape it (quite without another job lined up)

I’ve truly thought about trying to take a leave of absence. I think I need to look into it more !! I don’t even have time to truly job hunt

Is this how it goes? I am switching for the first time.

I recently joined a company of 400 people as the only Talent Acquisition Specialist. I feel like the role I'm doing is so much more than a Specialist level. I feel I'm being underpaid and my title doesn't actually align with what I'm doing. I feel like a Manager. I'm trying to recruit on 15+ different positions while trying to manage so many other ongoing projects and requests. How do I bring this up without sounding like I'm complaining? Is it worth saying something?

Hi ladies,
My manager is putting me up for promotion to senior level. I asked about what that means for compensation, he didn’t have an absolute answer but just said base salary will increase more than regular pay raise (hm.. okay it’s expected) but stock options won’t change. I have talked to a male senior peer before and learned that he makes about 20K more than me on base + almost double in equity. How would you suggest I utilize this information?

I’ve always gotten the advice that when you want to switch jobs you should take interviews from places you’re not actually interested in, so you can understand your value in the market and have better negotiating power.

I’m doing that rn - took a couple interviews to gauge my skills, my market value, and see what I need to work on for interviews that I actually care about.

However, I feel really guilty about wasting their time and going all the way knowing I’ll just say no at the end. Wwyd?

I received a job offer for a PM position with a base of $125K and a 10% bonus, fully remote and ok benefits. The parental leave is pretty bad, just FMLA and STD/LTD so the most I’d get is 60% of my salary for 12 weeks. I’ve cancelled most of my interviews except for one where the pay is $135K, 20% bonus, hybrid schedule, good benefits and 16 weeks fully paid parental leave. I’d like to start my family in a year or two - is it better to take the remote gig or the hybrid role with full paid leave?

Who left a toxic job without having another job first? How much savings did you have? How long did it take for you to find a new opportunity? Would you do this now, especially during a pandemic?
