My resume got shortlisted for Operations Associate/Engineer-Amazon Managed Services role. I am an experienced AWS engineer with 5YOE.I feel like this role will be degrading in nature for me. Is it worth joining for this position. I would love to join Amazon based on my experience and skill set. But Not to some position which doesn't require AWS experience.

I keep a OneNote page on each of my clients. So as I get to know them, or talk to them weeks apart, I can followup on something personal they mentioned (how was Disney? Did your son's soccer tournament go well? How was community service day at the food bank?).
It's not meant to be creepy or calculated. I can't keep everything straight in my head (lots of clients). I am genuinely interested and want to develop a deeper relationship.
It won't help you with the ice breakers, but will help you not have to use them over the long haul.
Incredible advice, thank you so much!
TikTok has good conversation starters/tips on communicating via Zoom. It’s nice you’re looking into how to improve engagement. It’s a hard balance of not making people talk if they don’t want to but also not letting recurring meetings become stale/not enjoyable.
Lots of good stuff above but as a PM this is so important. If it’s a key client and there are going to be a ton of folks on the call I might even do a pre-meet call with my counterpoint client-side to find out agenda items or latest big events at the company. All about building the relationship. Definitely always an agenda…chat, review agenda, agenda items, wrap with next steps, last closing chat demonstrating that you appreciate them.
Oh and yes topical things like the weekend, holidays, things you saw in the news, even things that happened to you or your family that might be more universal or interesting. Sometimes sharing something of yourself kicks things off. Like last client call I had we all talked about our glasses/contacts/sunglasses - it was actually one of the best chats waiting for everyone and it started v/c I commented that I liked someone’s glasses.
Ask about what new book they're reading or if they have started watching anything new ? Do research on their company see what new campaigns they have launched.
Calls run generally well if you have an agenda and stick to it.
-openin small talk (how was your weekend?)
-agenda items
-closing small talk (any fun plans coming up?)
Like all your prep work. Have A suggestion. How about when people are nodding out or you just need to read them up having a quick brainstorm session 3 minutes tops.
Start with asking them to unrelated questions for example kinds of cars uses of a brick, uses of a brick etc. in the third brainstorm question relate specifically to their business.
Everyone will be sitting on their end trying to come up with a clever answer to the brainstorm and will welcome the quickly moving break. happy to discuss this with you further off this post at jackgoldenberg@mac.com.
I can show you how to do it with or without me I’m happy to help at no charge. We can even do a dry run at your agency just to show you how energizing and profitable this can be.
