I think the first question is around how will you be managing transportation in Argentina? Will you be driving a lot and need a car seat? If so, then you’ll want to plan around that - bringing a car seat, determining if you’ll be carrying him in your lap on the plane or purchasing another seat where the car seat can be installed, and a stroller. If not, will you be walking and carrying him constantly, then do you have a comfortable baby wearing solution?
We travelled to Buenos Aires, Uruguay and Panama for 2 months with our 10-12 month old. We bought a travel light stroller that we could gate check or even carry-on check. It wrapped up nicely in a backpack and was handy for all the walking around. I also wore our little guy a lot which was the easier way to move around at airports and sightseeing, and even cab rides (didn’t need a car seat which would have been a major hassle).
On the plane, in a big-ish bag carry multiple changes of clothes for kiddo and one for you too, diapers, wipes. I breast fed during takeoff and landing, and carried snacks in a container. A few books, toys and a wrap to put on the floor so he could sit down there and play (make sure you get the front row seats with extra leg room). For breaks walk with the little one up and down the aisle and continuously keep them busy or asleep :). You’ll do just fine. There are some great YouTube videos from moms on packing for long haul flights that helped me prep. Once you’re there, you’ll love it and just go with baby’s flow. We often left after his morning nap (so breakfast always inside or hubby would get it) and then long day out and I’d wear him to sleep for second nap which we would always find something indoors to do or a nice shady park. We even managed nights out with him asleep in the stroller.
This will be great memories for you as a family! All the best!
Love it!!! Thank you so so much!
At 7 months we also travelled to India with him for a month. After month 6 you can make sure he has most of the necessary immunizations for the trip as well so definitely book yourself in at a travel clinic in time.
Makes sense. Thank you so so much!!

If you feed formula, make sure you think ahead about either bringing enough with you or check if you can buy it there. Make sure to pack any and all baby medicines you use, as well as items for yourself!
Great tip!!!
Taking our 4 month old to NZ (plus 2 other kids) look into if the airline has bassinets and book that for an overnight flight. Baby wear on the plane and changes of clothes for all.
If you check a car seat stuff that bag full of diapers, coats, anything soft that you won’t need till you get there. We actually have to get to the west coast before our flight so I am purchasing a cheap car seat and diapers in LA and just sending in the box (then donating it over there before we come home).
Interesting! Thanks for sharing!
