Hello,
My name is Vania Awuah. I attend
Regent University and I’m majoring in Industrial Organizational Psychology. I have my bachelors in Psychology. I am currently looking for jobs in my field such as consultant or human capital jobs. I have about 1-2 years in Human Resources but it is hard for jobs to accept me with my field. I let Regent University career service help me with my resume but I haven’t been able to find a job or get any job offers. Is there’s any advice or anything I can do? Regent University @

Your trying to get into HR right as we begin the two horse decent of “are we in a recession” where companies mass pay off their HR departments for two years then after it’s all done the FED goes “yes now we are in a recession” to which the market goes ape shit and two years later you now can get a job in HR.

Yeah your focus is quite specific, which means less positions available for related roles. You might need to spend some time in more general HR roles and working your way up within an organization. It's a tough time to be a recent grad looking for work.

General HR roles such as what?

I think the quality of tax returns being filed has gone down significantly. One of the reasons is that the “old school” mentality of if you are assigned a tax return you work as many extra hours to complete the return, however people cap their hours and those returns either don’t get done or they are done poorly and it’s better to get filed then to get it late. Leaders in PA need to factor in that the newer generation will not just “get it done” regardless if the amount of extra hours.

RX Consultants (in the US) how difficult is your day to day? Does the legal aspect show serious difficulty especially as you gain seniority (and thus more responsibility/strategy)....and does it stay interesting? Especially those of you who came from an accounting background versus finance (or if you know of colleagues who came from accting background and their story).
Also welcoming horror stories/your worst day as an RX consultant, since they can be hilarious and somewhat telling of the job.
