Hello, my wife and I are expecting a baby this December. Does it make sense to have her go through her employers insurance alone rather than have a family plan with a higher deductible that we are currently on? Or does it end up being the same?

Probably better off with just her insurance PwC has terrible insurance and if you are double covered the two companies may fight to try and make each other pay.
With my wife’s plan
Wont you need a family plan (at least one of you) to provide insurance for the baby once it's born...?
Get a better plan when open enrollment starts in October.
You need to legit view the specific policy options side by side…for example if your wife has very good coverage as employee only but your plan offerings are better for employee + children you might be better off each utilizing your own employer coverage but you need to do the math because having the two deductibles and two OOP max’s can really add up
Need more info to make informed determination here. For instance, if her deductible is 2400 and the baby goes to your insurance, you’ve got 7200 on top of the 2400 which makes no sense.
Typically, I’d say you should be high deductible on PwC plan for you and spouse. Then when baby is born, convert to low deductible plan until beginning of next fiscal year. As majority of her individual deductible will be met and when the conversion to low deductible happens, you’ll be paying 10% of costs until OOP max.
I have a family HDP and won’t be splitting off to her employer. Her employers premium is much more than what PwC offers.
I had my wife use her employer’s plan and my son is also on her plan. PWC ‘s plan is terrible ( I was on the high deductible)

From what I have heard from my friends who are moms is that once the baby is born it has its own deductible... even during labor and delivery
That wasn’t the case for me, we had a family deductible prior and adding the baby just contributed to the family. They may have gone from individual to family and seen the increase there?
