I currently work full-time at an ad agency making $40k a yr in an entry-level role; however, I am now in the late interview stages w/ a major tech company who is offering $85k but for a contract role w/ no guarantee of hire since I would be covering someone’s temporary leave.
I really want to work in music but I am iffy on leaving a full-time job for a contact.

Is it ever a good idea to jump ship for a contract job or should I just wait for a full-time role to open up?

Joined Blind over a month ago, and what an eye opener it has been. Tech salaries are insane. Even with the recent tech pull back and layoffs, some of the comps are on a whole another level. Friends in tech say, most layoffs have involved non-engineers (sales,HR, Ops,mrktng etc). Dudes in their late 20s pulling in 350k+. Unreal.

And then I look at my TC/bonus and a sense of disappointment washes over me. Short of becoming a partner, I don't think I can pull these numbers that tech bros post up.

Hey, new to the Fort Worth area & looking for jobs inside education. I have worked in education for several years as a teacher and some administration experience. I have taught various levels and subjects. Last year I worked with student teachers through their internships.

We have clients who are ‘retained’, which really means they just pay for a bundle of hours they can draw down over time. Any tips for how to ensure they don’t ask for 5 projects at once and absolutely kill people if they are allocated also on other business?

Would love to hear from those who left law completely and are happy with how things have turned out. But still not enjoying my dream practice. I think it’s time to try something else before I find myself with an addiction problem and other typical depressed attorney things you hear about. The more I practice, the more I realize this was never what I wanted. Want to exit to a start up in an operations role. Advice?

Recently my company has added a new component in salary which has increased overall CTC of every employee.


We've not received any revised salary breakup only an official email stating everyone's CTC is increased. Started receiving salary based on the updated CTC.


When trying to make a switch, new firm is asking for revised salary breakup but I've shared the email screenshot along with my salary slips showing my increased salary. But HR said she needs updated salary breakup.
