No. Never. It is 1000% against policy for anyone of any role/position to be locked with a student in a room regardless of the purpose. Especially not alone. Huge red flag.
Locked and without me? No. That’s sus. We really don’t lock any doors either.
Absolutely not. Not allowed to even be alone in a room with the student. Must be within the visual field of a certified staff member
No no no no no! Never
Thank you, everyone! I just wanted general support that this is a major no-no. Witnessed recently.
sped aide here, i’ve only been allowed to when changing/accidents happen and rooms are NEVER locked - even if it’s in the bathroom i’ll leave the door open or at least unlocked (i think in TX we’re not allowed to be alone with a sped student)
No. Never
No! Never door must be open or two people (teacher , aide) in room door closed but never locked
We have to keep the doors to our classrooms locked due to safety issues, and sometimes I am not in the room for a few minutes. I have a key and will walk freely. I would be very concerned if you do not have a key to the room or can not walk in and monitor at any time. A tutor should not be unmonitored with students.
Never
No- never! They may block the door, but will not be in a room with only one or two children at a time. If I have an IEP meeting, the aide stays in the room with the class, however.
