Looking for good health-related gift ideas for my mom for the holidays. She’s almost 52. I’m concerned that she’s not taking her health as seriously as she should be. She bought herself a yoga mat because she promised me she’d start (she also has back pain so it would help alleviate some of that), but it’s still laying in its packaging.

My spouse and I recently adopted an older shelter dog (Carlotta). Some of the other MDs at my hospital were putting together a "Dr. and Dog" social event, so I took Carlotta. The amount of jabs I got for bringing a shelter "mutt" (with typical elderly dog health ailments) instead of purchasing an expensive designer dog like everyone else was astounding. I'm sorry I didn't pay thousands for a purebred or socially-acceptable mutt. Is this level of snobbery typical in dog circles??

I want to take a sabbatical. No one else at my firm has taken one - even our attorneys who have had kids are usually back the week after, our female lawyers who have kids typically take a month to six weeks but it is unpaid. I’m a partner, I know it will be without pay, and I really need some mental health time without email/deadlines. I have thought about leaving the firm but would prefer to recharge if possible. Starting a new job as an immigration attorney with 4 years of experience at nonprofits doing USCIS filings under my belt but I’m making $75k at a firm with 3 partners, another associate, and about a dozen support staff. Question for my health-conscious ladies. I’m trying to lose weight, have lost about 10 pounds in the last month which I’m super happy with because it’s mainly been a diet change and light exercise. There’s been 2 instances though where I ate a big burrito for dinner (a week apart) and I gained like 1.5 pounds overnight! Is this because of slow digestion or I guess fat from the burrito being stored? I’m trying to get under 150 and may need to curb the burritos for now😂
