My gosh the work we do is riveting

First trimester insomnia?
I’m only about 5 weeks, but my sleep schedule has gone off the rail the last three nights. I’m sleepy/drowsy, settled in bed around the same time every night, and yet I cannot fall or stay asleep. I have a white noise machine, comfy bed, cool room.. etc. When I do fall asleep, it’s earlier in the morning and I sleep until 1/1:30pm. This was fine the first few nights since it was the weekend, but it can’t keep up. Anyone else experience this and have any recommendations?

Need career advice. I went to school later in life_30s. I got hired as an associate in the firm I worked as as a paralegal in May. Its straight up insurance defense. I want to do more employment law/consumer advocacy (Attorney General's office) but the problem is, there is a substantial pay cut. For the Gov job, its about 15% less than what I make now. I like my boss (there's only 1 partner) generally, he is a cool guy. Its fully remote so that's nice. Should I go for the $ or follow myinterests

Asking for a friend

I’m having trouble brushing off a jerk opposing counsel. I’m in litigation and am a 10 year counsel with a 65+ year old man on the other side. Every thing I do or say gets twisted into me being dishonest or disrespectful. I recognize it’s a him problem and not a me problem, but we’ve had multiple hearings with the court over discovery battles and the court has sided with him several times. I can’t seem to just brush it off and focus on the case. Any tips in dealing with a PITA OC?

How do other agencies structure salaries and commissions for new business directors? What commission rate?

I’ve had bad experiences with New Business hired in the past. As in, nothing happened over 6-12 month periods bad. Hello! Curious if anyone has any thoughts on new year new business resolutions. Maybe it’s the fact that 2020 sucks but I’m already planning for the new year. I’m going to try and schedule time better for outreach and social media marketing. I tend to be too reactionary with my time.

I’ve been working on a pitch that continues to get delayed and it’s poorly managed. The RFI was due in July. Then days AFTER submission I received an email from the consultant saying we now had until August. End of September rolls around and frankly I had forgotten about this 100-page beast. They want a meet and greet….the following week. The day before the meet and greet we get a list of questions (that aren’t easy softballs). Now 2 weeks later and nothing. What a gross feeling this process is
