Autonomy. Flexibility.

like

For sure flexibility. There’s no going back for most people.

like

Flexibility and work/life balance are huge. And this isn’t a benefit, but company culture and a sense of belonging is just as, if not more, important than all of those.

This article was great to read. Thank you for sharing this.

Pto. Or just time off in general

like

Time off options that match the level of the role. Not something where you get 3 days a year and nothing rolls over.

like

-Housing allowance (based in job level eligibility perhaps)
-Bonuses/ incentives
-Recognition tied to monetary rewards
-Work from anywhere in the world for x no. of days min being 1 month max being 3, 6 or 12 month after completing x no. of months or year/s at the company
-Discount card offering variety of social/welfare discounts (restaurants/hotels/groceries/fitness/beauty/automotive etc)
-Annual airline ticket allowance (capped either at country or region or worldwide level) either for employee only or for employee and x no.of dependants.
-Wellness or health programs or employee assistance program for employee and their eligible dependants
- Access to social clubs for extra-curricular activities (sports mainly)
- paid volunteer days or volunteer days off encouraging employees to contribute and give back into the community or planet earth.
- Career development programs - career paths, coaching, mentorship

I can help brainstorm with you if your looking for more context on above. Drop a DM

What does everyone mean flexibility?

Remote work, flexible schedule if there’s a kid’s program in the middle of the day, so they don’t need to take PTO, but can work after bedtime to make up that hour or two. No micro managing the schedule of the employee. For me, it’s not how many hours I put in, it’s the quality of work and getting it all done

like

Work life balance/flexibility is important. I took a new position and interviewed with the VP of HR in Colorado. I report to the CEO in a different state. During my interview with the VP we discussed work life balance and a hybrid schedule. This was exactly what I was looking for when the office is 50 minutes from my home and I have active teens, once I started the story changed it’s in the office 5 days a week. I’m currently looking for a new role. The current CEO is very old school and will never adjust to a hybrid schedule. He doesn’t like when employees take vacation during the summer months (busy season). I wouldn’t have left my previous role knowing there was no work life balance./flexibility. I see positions posted as onsite then a few weeks later posted as hybrid. This may be a thing to get employees in the door.

Different benefits appeal to people at different times in their lives. For some they want more paid time off like personal days or parental leave. Others want higher pay and lower contributions to medical benefits. Older employees may value higher 401(k) contributions, more PTO and things like bereavement leave.

like

401k contribution, personal time

Work life balance that’s not only promised but also delivered, flexibility (schedule and breaks), PTO/vacation, sick days/mental health days

PTO/vacation - hard to believe most companies only provide a standard of 3 weeks (in Canada)

401K match, without a doubt, and unlimited PTO

Flexibility, work life balance, support,

I'd love to get more money dince I have use fir parental leave, care giver benefits, mental health programs

Had a hard convo with my SO about how I am selling myself short in my career, and need advice. I am 22, recent grad with a B.A in Digital Comm, and have worked in marketing/tech already for 2 years to fund my degree. I am hitting 1 yr with my current company, and want off contract and WAY better pay, maybe even a pivot into health-tech or sales. But, I am also comfy where I am, and scared to make a new move all of a sudden. Has anyone taken a career leap this young before and succeeded?

Advice please: I currently make $80k at a small firm in SoCal. I’ve been incredibly overwhelmed by my caseload and hands-off approach by my boss given that I’m still a “baby attorney.” Had an interview today with another firm that offers more money, lower billable req (below my current 2100+), will ease me into a caseload rather than just throw me into one (I walked into a 20+ caseload on day 0), and will be more hands on. Benefits are the same but higher pay (cont.)

I’m fairly new to the FIRE movement. When calculating your percent of savings, do you use your take home pay amount net of all deductions? For example, I contribute about 20% of my paycheck to my 401K each pay period, so I’m not sure if I’m suppose to be including this retirement balance in the calculation. I won’t be able to pull from the account if I retire early as there are penalties fees.

I recently had a discussion with Morgan Stanley HR. They are matching the offer that i have currently, but were not willing to discuss the variable and benefit parts. They said that, they can only discuss this after the offer letter has been rolled out.
Does anybody know what is the variable range for an associate and what are the benefits offered? Maybe there is a document with list of all benefits? This will help me in taking my decision faster.

Thanks in advance.

I usually don’t celebrate my birthday, but I’m turning 40😅 and feel like I need to do something by inviting people I know. I think it will be a small group, maybe 10 at most. I’m thinking I’d like to do a nice dinner, but don’t want it to be expensive for people. So I’m leaning towards a happy hour on Friday, maybe get some appetizers for the group and then everyone pays for their drinks. Do you girls think it is a good option for the group? What’s the “etiquette” for this sort of celebration?
