I am a college hire from Cummins. I started full time last June. Starting pay for an analyst is $61k usd. You can move functions supper easily. Honestly, there’s more value just getting your foot in the door at Cummins. Great company to work for! And they will work with you to put you where you want to be. Maybe not right away, but within 18 months they encourage everyone to switch to a new role. So if you start out doing something you don’t love, it would only be for the first 18-24 months. My recommendation would be to not be very picky on the first position, it could show a lack a flexibility and team work.
It’s pretty easy to move between functions and roles at Cummins. Don’t worry too much, it’s your first job. Also, remember that you can also ask for the data science role and if you don’t get it, it’s easy to pick up side projects in science. Consider getting a mentor over there as well. Cummins is a great place to start your career so don’t worry about that first job too much. If you perform well, you can do anything at the company!
Thank you so much
