Hello!
I got a job as an AE for Dentsu London. Have not lived in London or around ever. Can someone please give me some tips with respect to house search, and travel?? I've heard some seriously bad stuff about living in and around the city. So scared. Please help!

Brighton, England is wonderful. Lived there for a while, and loved it. It’s expensive, and a university AND vacation spot for the English. But it’s diverse, sunny (most of the time…for England anyway), and has a lot of things to do. It’s an hour away from London on the train, so probably not someplace to live. But hop on the train and go for the weekend sometime. It’s lovely!

Yes, Brighton does sound nice for summer. Indeed not a place to live if working in London but a nice getaway.

Thank you :)

Omg I’m moving to London too, would I appreciate that some tips as well. Which areas of London is safer ?

depends on your budget. Look on SpareRoom if you want to live with roommates (min £500-700 a month) or on RightMove if you can rent something on your own. Generally Zone 1 will be very expensive, but there are some exceptions. Don’t recommend moving beyond Zone 3 as you’ll spend a ton of time commuting and won’t get to experience the city.

I personally recommend South London, I’ve lived around Vauxhall, Brixton and Herne Hill for years and it’s a great mix of vibrant food and drink scene, parks and good transport connections. You might find lots of people online saying it’s not a safe area, but that’s not really true. It’s been quite dodgy in the 90s but since 2010s it has gentrified HARD.

Some areas in the north London are also quite nice and reasonably priced, particularly around Angel or London Fields. Pimlico is also super central and you can find lower rent prices because of proximity to a massive council housing complex.

All in all, London is a great place to live, don’t be scared, you’ll survive!

My wife got a job that requires us to relocate to San Diego. We have never lived there and know little about the city. We are planning to rent. We stayed in a hotel in little Italy and really loved the vibe there, but it’s too expensive for us. Are there other neighborhoods with similar vibes - restaurants, bars, lively, good for walking, clean, safe, young, diverse and accessible that are more affordable? Please share recommendations. How much should we reasonably budget to rent a 2bd/2bath?

Living in Van. Previously lived in Toronto. Obviously rent prices are high as is cost of living. Generally go out and spend more often living in a city. Boyfriend and I on good salary but not saving much due to the above. Before we move home to our own country, we’d love to spend a year close to Vancouver where rent is cheaper, temptation is less, to save. A commute to Vancouver 1-2 times a month needs to be possible (his job). That can be a flight if it’s not crazy. Thoughts? Recommendations?

Anyone hookup while traveling? I travel quite often and it’s tough to date seriously.

Craziest thing: had to go to my manager's hotel and wake them up at noon the day after a team event to implore them to get to the office ASAP before anyone noticed they were still gone. I was tempted to expense the required taxis as "rescue mission."

I am a field marketer. I travel and cover 12 states. HQ is across the US on the east coast. My manager put a surprise calendar invite twice now to go to home office without consulting dates to see if we were available. I stood up and asked to be included on available dates and said I will attend virtually but asking me to be away for 4 additional full days away from my family without asking me is not OK. I already travel a lot and this boundary is super important to me. Am I right or wrong?

So the National Consumer Helpline really works.
I had filed a complaint against Goibibo, who delayed my flight cancellation request until 1 day before departure hence the airline charged a higher cancellation amount.

A friend of mine introduced me to the portal when I filed a complaint explaining the matter in detail, uploading Twitter DM screenshots, where the company was clearly denying responsibilities on the above.

Took 2 months but today my refund was initiated by Goibibo.
