I don’t know what the going rate is in your area but that’s not even a cost of living increase…I think you should definitely ask for more ($45+?) and in your ask outline the specialty work you are doing in addition to the additional supervisory duties. My guess is an outside hire would be starting higher than what they are offering you.
I would definitely ask for time to consider and then come back and ask for much more. Each additional responsibility should garner an additional ten percent. Best of luck .
I agree. That pay is too low for the responsibilities you are dealing with. At least 46$/hr
I make more as case manager -non clinical, non-leadership position in Florida, which is notorious for underpaying everyone. Ask for 75k annually for a leadership position.
I always ask for more than they offer. They may not give me what I ask but they will almost always give more than the original offer.
It sounds like they would be getting a hell of a deal. And you would be paying the price. How long would it be before you resented it? If they would take advantage of you in this way they would do so in others. If you would love the job and it is something you have really worked towards then consider it. Some places really don’t pay much more for management. Think about your worth and go from there.
My experience has been that Hospitals or Healthcare Groups feign ignorance regarding pay rates or disregard the compensation of other organizations. If you are a Key Employee, i.e. (excellent attendance, do more than your job description requires) getting better pay should be acceptable. If I were CEO I'd instruct my corporate compensation team to be the best-paying group to attract the best talent. The most successful sports teams are typically the highest paid. Competition for the best employees starts with money. After this giving appreciation and encouragement is a must. If your current situation has an excellent boss and coworkers, consider this too. This alone has value.
Definitely NOT a “good” raise for the additional responsibilities. Ask for time to consider, then ask for an increase in wages, atleast $40-45. Good luck !
Many times orgs , especially hospitals, will try to hold to a 10% raise for promotion. How many grades did you increase?
That's not a raise. That's a downgrade. Ask for what it's worth! You should be HAPPY about a new position. If you feel dirty about how low they're paying, ask for more or decline and leave yourself open to another opportunity.
