Been in house for about a year. I just found out that a new hire who has 1-2 less years of experience than me (but will have the same role/title as me) received a compensation package significantly higher than me, mostly due to the market dynamics with law firm associates’ compensation being ratcheted up the past year. Can I ask for an equitable raise mid year? And if so, how? I got rave reviews but an immaterial pay bump (3%) at year end in December.

Is it a trick by HR people to low pay you.
I was referred by a guy to EY GDS for chennai location. But HR says the opening is for Bangalore location, and quoting salary lesser than my expectation. I am 100% sure the position open for chennai also.
Same happens when a Bangalore guy applies for a job for banaglore based position, but EY HR is saying them the openings are available for chennai / Trivandrum ? Anyone experienced this?

Off topic: I am planning to buy or book a car by end of this quarter. I can spend upto 20 lacs max. So suggest me a good car.
Also, is it worth spending upto 20 lacs on a car? Why asking because constantly gets feedback from everyone includes friends, family and wife that live your life and don't think much if you can afford. I don't know if i can afford it not. Everything used to pay $350k on target earnings. Tech is booming but I am noticing pay has dropped substantially despite inflation. I am seeing $300k ote and most roles are set up to not hit plan. LTI -Appeared for LTI L1 round on 9th july. The panel even clearly told he is recommending my name for Next round. What is the process they follow and generally how much time HR take to keep L2 ? I tried calling hr n dropped a mail too but no response.
