I'm in the last stage of the screening process for an Amazon AWS security engineer position. Due to the recent hiring freeze, I was given two options: - go through the last screening (5x1 hour interviews) and, if accepted, wait for a position to open. If not accepted I have to wait 1 to 2 years to apply again, as usual. - OR don't go through the screening and having to go through another screening process. Advices on what to do are welcome. Right now I'm more prone to go through the interview.

Miami, AD. 6 years of experience. Just got a raise to 75k baby! Not bad. Although my progress in the pay-scale has been slow, it’s been steady. It’s been mentally challenging not to feel like shit when you know what some of your other coworkers make when they make much more than you, but comparison is a joy thief.
I stopped comparing and just focused on being ok and being better. Slowly but surely it got noticed.
I put in all the effort to have a better attitude.
Got therapy, started antidepressants, shit’s good. It hasn’t been easy or quick for me, but I’m grateful to be where I am today.
Thank you thank you. I love the work from media monks! Cheers to you too :)
So uh, who else is deeply depressed and feeling increasingly inferior over this thread?
Yup right there with you. At 62K now. Still very early in my career. But the cost of living is only getting higher. My goal is to get to six figs within the next 2 years.
I feel poor. Lol. 🤣
I was just gonna say that I’m prob underpaid since it was an internal jump vs. Switching agencies. But also Toronto salaries are much much lower than US. From what I’ve heard even seasoned AS don’t generally make more than $75k.
Hey ladies! I took all the 2021 salaries mentioned here and put them into an excel, and wrote an article with some salary insights. Hope it helps. Check it here: https://jesswatts.medium.com/how-much-did-women-make-in-advertising-2021-7bc23dc1b423?sk=b44b924ec3a87a354aba134428eed455
You are a treasure, this is incredible!

CD3 you speak the truth. Letting Greg Hahn go was a short sighted , stupid decision made by a president with a grudge. I mean, Greg Hahn? Who doesn’t love and respect the guy?

Starting a new role tomorrow at 100 as an AS. Honestly feels like I have spent the last almost 7 years fighting tooth and nail for myself, in every aspect- salary, toxic environments, harassment, manipulation and retribution... on and on and on. I told myself (and my father) at the start of the year, in the midst of yet another disappointment and another battle to be fought that I WOULD break six figures this year. I WOULD. We both said okay, but there was very little faith left to hold those words up. I was made an offer at 100 even- reading this thread, maybe I should’ve tried to negotiate or push a little more, but I was and am just TOO FREAKING STOKED to give it much thought. Still can’t believe it. Now just to find out how long that feeling lasts.. fingers crossed this is a good one in all the ways 🤞🏻Wish me luck!

If I work the same number of days then I’ll make about 1.5x my old salary. But that depends on if the work / demand is steady. So far this year it has been thankfully.
Senior Director of Social Strategy, NYC, 200k
How did you get where you are today? I am a recent grad, and have been a Digital Marketing Coordinator for 9 months, doing Marketo automation and building email and webinar campaigns. I’m interested in brand and social strategy, but don’t know how to get there.
Senior copywriter in NYC, 120K
AAE, $36,500 lol
Started out there right out of college. The concerning issue here is that was my pay 10 years ago out of college…just goes to show how salaries have not increased with the cost of living.
Director, strategy, 15 years experience. $170k, Chicago.
Wait, you’re now getting paid $200 as a director in Chicago?
Strategy, 15yrs 260+bonus
How much is bonus? What type of agency?
I commented a while ago here that I make 55k (pharma) with 1 YOE in Philly. In 2 weeks I start a new job making 75k (non-pharma) in the same market!!
Got a 20k raise and escaped Big Pharma in one blow, partly thanks to advice from this amazing community 🙌
Sr. Art Director - NYC - $120k
People told me that was an impossible salary to make for me and that I was being greedy. Asked around and found out other male creatives with my similar experience were making at least that. Found an agency that values me finally!! Before I was making 70k.

I know a few SADs that make 125k in Atlanta (remote & hybrid). I hope everyone here gets much higher in NYC
Here’s my salary history from the past 10 years. I’ve been working for about 20. I’ve learned not to chase the paycheck and have taken cuts for opportunities/life priorities.
$200k - mid sized holding company agency
$275k - large holding company agency. Toxic. Not worth the paycheck.
$260k - large hc agency. Messy.
Had a baby.
$230k - small agency. Toxic.
$250k - large hc agency. Toxic mess.
$220k- brand side. Lovely people and low stress. Wouldn’t leave for another agency no matter how big the paycheck.
thank you, happy you’re in a good place now and proud of you for finding that ❤️❤️❤️
ACD, SF, $160k base + 100k equity (tech)
Are you hiring? I’m looking to make a similar jump from ad land to tech.
