Thoughts on Fiverr
Have a formal offer at Citi for 120K as an AVP in the NY office. Currently making 92K at my current role where I feel there’s not much room to grow anymore. Is this a fair offer? I currently WFH pretty much full time at my current role which has been amazing, but it seems like Citi would require me to be there 2-3 days in the office per week - and this is something I’m very hesitant about. Thoughts on how to approach this?

40% bump are yall high
If you’re downgrading from B4 to mid tier like that, leave for no less than a 40% bump. That way you can at least partially offset the reduced long term earnings potential.
Lmao PwC2 the difference between b4 and RSM is not thaaaat large
First year senior ~76k. 2nd year senior ~85k. 3rd year senior ~93k base. That is just my experience in NYC, and that’s at a big 4, so in a lower COL city would need to adjust down. But hopefully having some data points will help!
Wow that’s low
Exactly why OP should stay at PwC. I know TS sounds sexy, even if it’s at a mid tier firm, but long term you’ll be better served to stay where you are. Talk to your coach to see about doing a rotation in TS. Will take some time (probably won’t happen until after this upcoming busy season), but I see assurance seniors do it all the time. Just my two cents.
Get me a Job there. What city and how many years experience ?
Ask for 25% bump
Again, disagree. Big 4 will get you in the door, won’t even get you the job.
Your interviewing skills will get the job, and your negotiation skills will get more money
If there are 2 equally qualified candidates and the only difference is that one is big 4 and one isn’t, the big 4 is getting the job. Not saying it’s fair but it’s how the reputation is perceived in industry
PwC TS has been hiring. Play that out before you accept anything or you’re doing yourself a disservice.
I assume you will get a bigger bump going external than you would internally at PwC, but at least you’ll get all the facts on the table. For what it’s worth - I got about 10% bump in my base immediately when I switched... but my total comp had doubled after 2 years vs where it was at in audit. So raises / bonuses accelerate.
Assuming transaction services is advisory work, going from audit to advisory I would expect around 80-85k.
If In a high COL, around 90-95k.
I don’t think you have much power to negotiate with an internal transfer, but you are switching firms so I think you certainly can and should
Looking to make the same move would love to hear about your experience
Check glassdoor
I lateraled from PwC to a regional and got that
What city?? In general, I would ask for at least a 25% bump
There is no reduced long term earnings potential, per se. Look at the Vault rankings- specifically the highest paying firms. You’ll note that the Big 4 are conspicuously absent from that list...
All in all, I make somewhere between what PwC would pay a high M2 and a low M3 in my market. Total bump to base was 29% and change.
Partners probably don’t make as much, but they still make more than cardiologists, and I’ve yet to see one work past 6pm. I can get by just fine with that...
Btw the real "bump" comes from assurance to specialty. For that, use glass door and even people within your current firm but their LOB. A bump to um... "mitigate long term loss on earnings" is silly/hilarious. It's the #1 mid market firm and they hold the cards, but in my experience are willing to pay for good long term commitment.
The presumption in my comment is that OP will not stay in PA forever, and will eventually move to industry, where employers absolutely pay a premium for B4 candidates over mid tier ones.
And you're going to tell your potential future employer to give you a 40% bump because when you eventually leave you'll get less thanks to potential employer tainting your resume. Play that out in your head as the employer.
