Depression/Anxiety Talk

Help: Hey anyone successfully lost antidepressants weight? I got on mirtazapine right before the quarantine. I started to put on weight fast. At first I was happy because I was underweight (105lbs) but then the weight kept growing out of control. At my heaviest point I was about 140lbs, and 4 more pounds would put me in the overweight bucket. I stopped the meds 6 weeks ago and now 127lbs. I want to go down to 118lbs. I’ve been thin my entire life so I don’t have any experience in losing weight

Eeeeeeek! I hate mirtazapine - was on it for about a four-month period in 2018 and it really did a number on my metabolism. I gained about 20lb. Finally, this year, I’ve lost about 15 of them in the past three months with a lot of strict diet and exercise but it took a long time for my metabolism to get back to where it used to be. I only eat 1200 calories a day and work out 60min/day. It is absolutely possible but you need to be off the drug and be really strict about what you eat.

You can do it OP! It is possible, but you’ll get there. I’m rooting for you 💪🏼

Yes, it came off once I was back to normal and off antidepressants. Don’t fret it, as getting you healthy is the first priority!

Just FYI - my vet prescribes mirtazapine for my cat as an appetite stimulant

Yeah it’s really effective at that lol. When I was on it it was like I couldn’t stop eating - no matter what. It was like everything I saw or thought about I would HAVE to eat. Depression > that uncontrollable eating.

We are currently contemplating a spousal carve out on our medical plan. We have roughly 5500 members including 1200 spouses. I'm having a difficult time gaging the amount of disruption we will be facing. Has anyone else implemented a spousal carve out? How poorly was it received? Was there any particular communication that you felt minimized disruption?
