Cont. I am trying to be kind to myself but not everyone is and I already got some negative feedback which is making me even scared of emailing clients right now…anyone on ideas how to break this toxic cycle? I’m starting to think there is something wrong with my brain :-/
Sounds like you are exhausted and may be burnt out as well as physically unwell. Try to take a week off or even a day. If you can’t, at least try to rest on thanksgiving. … I’m sure you could also get a doctors note if needed. A vacation always clears my head when I am in a funk. Good luck.
Right there with you. Speak up though. Especially if you need a break or help temporarily till you're able to get back to 100%
Go to your doctor and find out if you are physically ok or still sick. If you have been sick for weeks then it takes time to recover from that. Your work may not understand that, but you need to understand it.
I did a full day seminar once and turned around and gave an entirely different full day seminar to an entirely different group the next day while feeling pretty unwell.
Turned out I had bronchitis, which then went to pneumonia because I failed to rest. That lasted three or more weeks because I tried to work from home with pneumonia.
It took me months to physically recover. Your health is important and you are likely to prolong your illness by ignoring it. Go to bed early, stay hydrated, and take a nap tomorrow.
Thanks for all your advice. I think I have to agree with you and take some time off. This is perhaps a silly thing to be thinking about now but do you know how sick leave affects billable hours? I am currently on track to meet them but if I take a week off I definitely won’t.
Your firm likely has a policy that you can check to be sure.
