If you really need the money, I get it. Take the job, but do not stop looking. Also, document everything along the way in case you need it later - and make sure you have that stuff on a personal account, not just at work. Lastly, try to maintain as much distance between you two as you can. Good luck. It really sucks that you're in that position. Normally I would say that you should not take a job working with someone like this, but these are not normal times. But definitely do not stop looking even if you take the job.
I agree with EA1 in this challenging time. Keep records, be pleasant and professional, don’t gossip about him to others and if they say anything about it just put it in your notes and change the subject.
Keep your boundaries and if he attempts to cross them give a firm NO. While it would be ideal if we could just stop these clowns in their tracks, we are still balancing our own need for employment against their entitlement. Ugh.
Seconding everything above. Keep a google drive on your personal account with screenshots of everything and a document where you track dates and incidents. Given that he knows he was inappropriate I would HOPE he adjusts his behavior and treats you as a professional colleague but we all know the reality. Good luck and I hope you find a not creepy boss soon!!!
Good on you for recognizing that behavior and pattern from the beginning. Some people may have just been oblivious to it. Before taking the job, really evaluate if you feel safe and what that means to you, if you only feel safe because you will be working remote, and think about what your exit strategy will be. Everyone is right in asking for more money, how much more is up to you - but even if you ask for an additional $10k and settle for $5k that will help you in your next position as well.
Seconding EA3 - definitely ask for more money!
... how do I play it? There aren't any other positions out there currently for the money I was making and located in Buckhead area where I want to work. My PUA hasn't kicked in yet and I've exhausted all monies I had in savings and 401k. Do I give it a go if offered?
As a seasoned EA, I hope you don't let his behavior determine what's best for you, financially or otherwise. You are obviously intelligent & capable. I can tell you can absolutely handle any future "undesirable" behavior quickly & efficiently without missing a beat. View this as an opportunity to BE SMART and to persevere! Unfortunately, this won't be your last battle to win in the working world. You've got the tools to take control of this situation. Get the job and take care of yourself! Document and take it to HR, if it becomes necessary. This is where YOU determine who dictates your life. I say YOU DO! Go get 'em! And best of luck to you!
