Help! Is this on? What does the red button mean?

Turn counterclockwise until it stops. If it gets too warm, make very small adjustments ever 1/2 hour or so.

When the valve warms up enough it will restrict flow of the hot liquid running through it. When it cools back down, it will reopen and allow hot liquid to flow again. The further open it is, the warmer it will get before it restricts flow.

Are you travelling in a European hostel or something?

But also this feels a little early to turn the heat on. Where I live it hit 85 5 days ago.

Ok but the red button is the recommended economy setting basically

It’s just a valve to let the hot oil heat the radiator, open it in the same way you would do when washing your hands, done.

Open and close

Press the red button and turn clockwise to turn it up to 11

Then go counter clockwise. Couldn’t pass on a Spinal Tap reference

What any big red button is for. No turning back..

No. It’s what D1 said it’s for economy setting.

So thank you all for helping. The radiator wasn’t working. So actually unscrewing the whole thing the heat was unlimited. They came in and fixed my a new thermostat. The higher the number the more release of heat and the lower the number the less release of heat. If you keep it on the red it’s economy setting that means the thermostat will increase and reduce heat by itself based on the temperature in the room

Don’t know why, but I am not feeling afraid of getting laid off. And also I don’t feel like pushing to get another job in case that happens. I am fed up with this visa nonsense, the corporate slavery they have in name of H1B. And also this whole world in turmoil due to covid has left me thinking what better i could do to add value to the society. Adding to the agony of American dream is the civil unrest in US, trump again for 4 years, more guns, absurdity of USCIS etc.
