I came from big 4 background and joined IB at a bulge bracket bank a few months ago. However the experience was very different from what I expected. I was immediately put onto two active deals and worked over 110 hours per week, no days off for 5 weeks straight. I overestimated my tolerance and already started feeling burnt out. Keen to get some advice from people who have been in this situation.

Is it hard to switch from a senior level risk practice at a big 4 to a marketing position at another company and not have to start from entry level (keep senior title)?

Currently a Senior 1 (will be Senior 2) in Audit at a B4 at 84k. Definitely don’t want to continue in audit. I’m in a rotation doing transaction diligence this summer with potential for an offer at the end to fully switch to TD. (avg. salary increase ~30%). But, I also have an offer now from a regional bank to be a portfolio manager. to eventually become a commercial lender. any advice/anyone make a switch to either banking or TD and what do you recommend is better career long term?

I feel as though not increasing stub year bonuses is shortsighted. Given that they are pro-rated it is very low cost, doesn't feel great being the only one left out in increases, and kind of want to try retaining them long term tho they contribute little now. Seems like a way to cheap out since doing it would require pushing the rest of the scale up slightly.

So I am on a project since july, where I have not that much work to do. Attend some meetings, sometimes I schedule meetings… I may get a bore out soon 🥴 But what I definitely not understand is the fact that this client just called my manager, to praise my “important work” and how “helpful” I am.
