Help me run! Heart rate shoots up to 160-170 within a few seconds of running and I feel exhausted- panting, hazy vision. But can go on the elliptical for 30 minutes at 150 hr with no exhaustion.

Elliptical is very different. You don’t pick up your feet or propel yourself forward on an elliptical.
I would suggest starting to run outside or on a track rather than on a treadmill so that you’re not locking yourself into a pace (plus, I find it a little easier). Start out at a slow jog, even if it’s just at a walking pace, for a minute or two and walk when you feel overwhelmed. Once you recover, jog again. Work on getting your body used to that type of exercise, then you can focus on speed and distance... you’ll get there :)

Great advice overall. I might see a doctor too. The hazy vision part scares me. I run a lot and get up to 180 but don’t feel like I’m about to faint

I’m in the same boat! No idea why that happens. I’m guessing that it’s because I’m just not used to running and that it’ll get better with time. Haven’t run continuously for too long so I’ve not been able to test out that hypothesis

Agree with SA1, my heart rate is usually 175-185 running but it’s all about the breathing. In through the nose out through the mouth! So many techniques online!

Focus on breathing. I’ve been running for years and couldn’t run beyond 2 miles without wanting to die. Once I started concentrating on my breathing I broke the 2 mile threshold.

I’ve had three miscarriages and most recently a molar pregnancy (Jan 2021) that was conceived via IUI. Have had all the labs and blood work done and show no signs of anything wrong. My partner and I have sortof stopped trying subconsciously because of the emotional turmoil we’ve been through. We are exhausted and traumatized.

I’m almost 38. Is it time to just…give up and move on?

I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who shares in this group. It truly helps me stay sober. I am approaching 12 months sober but have been struggling lately. While I have not relapsed, I’ve been close. Normally, before I get out of bed, I write down my reason to stat sober for the day, but lately the reasons have been lousy at best. But reading about everyone’s struggles and successes has helped get me through this past month. So thank you all for the inspiration to keep going strong!
