Help me with a situation. I am in ad sales now with $140K OTE, but my ultimate goal is to be in enterprise software sales. My plan was to take the next level up of my current role, with a $220K OTE, to get the large enterprise experience vs the small enterprise types I work with now.
Today, I was offered a $215K OTE MidMarket role at current company but I'm having doubts it's the right move. It feels a step back in business size experience, and doesn't get me any closer to end goal. Thoughts?
100% move to ent SaaS/software out of ads. I did this very intentionally (started at google marketing platform and moved to google cloud).
Negotiate a higher comp. If it seems likely you can move to Ent in under 2.5 years could be a good opp if you like the company
Ent sales is a whole diff beast depending on what you’re selling right now. Mid market might actually be a better place to start and you ll learn the product better in mid market.
I would take the offer. I don't think it will take you entirely off your path, the pay is good, and the experience may be beneficial.
I’d take the offer, the pay is good, and it isn’t a step that will cost you any worrying damage.
