Help! My wife’s company in Boston is not allowing their staff to work from home and in-fact mandating that people come onsite and work from office. Given the spread in the area I am concerned.

Seriously the only choice is to name and shame.

Will they fire her if she works from home? If not, go for it, and she can set an example for other scared employees

Does she work at a hospital?

Ugh. That sucks. Culture and character reveals during the tough times. I don’t support that company

Can she do her work from home? I didn’t give my company the option, I told them it was the best choice for me and my family.

What’s the company?

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.

My H1B visa transfer with EY has been approved. We have received the e-approval. Can I now resign or give notice at my current firm? The guidance apparently is to wait for physical copy of the approval before officially resigning. But that date is uncertain and I’m afraid I could get the physical copy a day before my start date or a week after that. I’d like to give my firm around two weeks notice and I am scheduled to start on 27th Sept. Thoughts? As usual, radio silence from my EY recruiter.
