Here is a question for you guys. 3 DUI arrests on my record (all within 1 year of each other). 2 of them were dropped to reckless driving and the other was nolle prossed (in exchange for a civil refusal violation). how likely is it that my job offer will be rescinded after background check is ran?

How long ago were they? I mean people pass the bar with murder charges sometimes. You just have to be able to talk about it like an adult.

So, how'd it go? It really depends on the firm. In my 20s I lost out on a forensic analyst position after my background check because I had a single defaulted payment on a credit card 3 years prior. They didn't care of my reasoning that I was hospitalized and unconscious at the time of default.

Damn. I think it depends on how you explain it and the people reviewing the record. Also, agree that it depends how long ago this was.

2019-2020 is when it happened. I am not ashamed to talk about it, you know? Like I can sit down and explain I was going through abc which led to xyz but all of that is behind me now. For me, it's just worrisome because I don't want the offer to go away and I already gave notice to my current employer. Obviously I should have thought about this before tripping up and repeatedly making the same moronic mistake, but this is where I am now.

Are you able to say anything about what type of firm it is? Size, specialty anything? I imagine that the only real concern is if the firm specializes in something that makes it a conflict of interest, like personal injury.

If you’re an exceptionally good candidate I would expect them to maybe inquire you about it. Probably be prepared to give an explanation on how those incidents happened and what you’ve learned from it. I would say a true good firm would recognize people who improve from past incidents.

I guess my best advise for you is prepare for the worst but hope for the best. It’s really hard to say, but it’s in your favor that you weren’t actually convicted for the DUI’s. Just have a really good explanation on why it happened, and what you’ve been doing to improve yourself

Had an interview Thursday, went really well. Was told I'd be a great fit, they even had me turn around return, and meet with the decision maker the same day. When I was leaving they said they were sending an email with "quizzes" required by corporate.

I sent my thank you message the next day, and the reply said "keep an eye out for the quizzes, so we may move on to the next stage."

It's Tuesday and still nothing. What should I do? Another follow-up email? A call? Or just wait it out?

Hello, I have received offer letter from EY LLP for Manager position.
There is a bonus component over and above the CTC mentioned in offer letter.

When asked, HR conveyed the below, verbally.
'Bonus is between 10-20% depending on performance. Usually 15% on an average.'

1) This bonus range (10-20%) is not mentioned in the offer letter. Is this usually the case?

2) Are people in EY receiving the bonus right from the first year on the job or is there some extra t&c I was not made aware?

Additional Posts in Paralegals

I’m looking for advice on finding a new job as a paralegal. I just recently got my paralegal certificate in May 2021 and have been working as a paralegal for a Sole Practitioner since August, but had to make the decision to leave because I’m not making enough money to support myself. I have experience in Plaintiff’s work doing mostly personal injury, but have handled other types of cases, too. I don’t have much experience in this field thus far and would appreciate any advice I can get.

Hello everyone! I recently start working as a paralegal in USA. Managing attorney recently open a new location in another state and only comes back once every 6 to 8 weeks. My title is lead paralegal but I'm pretty much in charge of supervising other paralegals and keeping track of their work. Is this normal is USA?

I'm 30 years old. My family isn't super supportive. I'm nervous, scared, worried, all the things.

The insurance company I work for outsourced a huge majority of my work to a third party, ontellus 🤮. I am not longer able to bill for NPNP, SDT and CNOS. I received 5 separate NPNPs from ontellus that either had the incorrect case style, signature block or date. I also sent out an email today after the 5th incorrect NPNP that started with “I am honestly starting to feel like I am on the show Punk’d and waiting for Ashton Kutcher to pop into my office” continued in comments..
