Genuine question. How can people say that racism isn't a systematic issue in the US?

We had 300 years of slavery, 100 years of Jim Crow, and 50 years of mass incarceration. The original US Constitution said that black people were 3/5ths of human beings. I just don't see how someone can claim that racism isn't a serious historical issue in the US. It's not like all that bad history just magically went away one day.

My take fwiw - I feel like a lot of people and media are overestimating Trump coz of PTSD from 2016. Unless something changes massively, this dude is headed for a landslide loss. If you are polling even as a Republican in Georgia/Texas/Ohio/Iowa, I don’t think you can come back.
