Has anyone ever successfully pushed to roll themselves off a project at peak workload without getting fired? How did you go about it?

I have a contact who has basic knowledge of java programming. She started with LnTInfotech and got mapped into a project with most of her work being in Hyperion tool. She has great desire to become a web developer. She has a total of 2.5 years of experience. She is looking for project opportunities where she gets to work as a java dev? So I was working for this person that has a small business. She would pay me 300 Australian dollars per week and I would manage 2 Instagram accounts , one Facebook. Update photos in every other account she possibly had if necessary, upload content to her Wordpress, did the 50 percent of the redesign of her website, seo, client responses via WhatsApp, and an hour of photo shoot every week , also spending a couple of hours with her in meetings. Never got paid meetings or transport. Was i an idiot?
