Hey all, any insights on transitioning from Account Management to brand? Having difficulty gaining traction which could also just be a sign of the times?

Times are obviously very tough. However, you can do it, especially if you are looking for an in-house agency role. On the other hand, for true brand management, you have to be very business & finance savvy, vs a comms strategy & project management orientation - and you have to demonstrate/come across that way in the interviews.

I wish it was different, but clients are suspect of agency people nowadays for not being top tier in those skill areas. And, in reality, many agency folks are not.

Many times these jumps are best made within the category you are working on now, because you have the greatest knowledge.

Keep hanging in there. I know many who have persevered & made it happen!

Any advice on transitioning into forensics? I’m in audit now and want to make a good case for a transfer. I’m not sure what the other side is looking for. I will have my CPA license soon if that helps

190 of us in 5 hours? That’s depressing!

I’m an associate attorney at a smallish personal injury firm. Total firm has 12 attorneys, and my office has 2 attorneys, including myself. My office is currently handling roughly 145 cases between the two of us. I’m just wondering if this is a normal caseload for the field. We have roughly 10 trials set for next year. Some are in back to back weeks. Thoughts?

I worked at agencies for 10 yrs & had tons of variety of work, clients & a ton of responsibilities.

I recently accepted a “dream” bra job that aligns with my interests. Everyone I tell says “there couldn’t be a better fit” & is a perfect role for me.

3 months in I’m realizing how little variety & responsibility in my new job & I’m already BORED. And no discussions with manager about goals, progression or how things are going. I’m nervous I had blinders on & job fit is not for me. Any advice?!

I'm being forced to write copy and make a social media calendar for my company (ft role) suddenly after a bunch of consultants took over.
I understand everything is a learning curve but it's high time they hire resources.

Pointing my copy mistakes all the time won't help a multi million $ company.

Is there a way to explain this professionally that my forte is design and not social media management.

Hi! First time poster :)

Currently in-house at a large CPG corp and in the beginning stages of vetting out an agency opportunity to head strategy for a division with ~clients. What do pay ranges and role titles look like on the agency side?

For context, i have 10 years of brand marketing & comms experience working on national brands and am looking for the equivalent of brand side director level or above.

Any insight would be so helpful!

How big of a red flag is it that a company doesn’t have a marketing strategy/plan in place? I’ve been asking for this from my director but alway get some type of an excuse so I’m starting to believe there isn’t one. We are a company with over 200+ employees and 4+ locations

My org is rebranding, and in short, the new visuals suck. My sr designer told me my entire team wants to quit. Personally, so do I. Leadership made all the decisions without involving me, and has basically told me my job is not to have an opinion but to execute on the new direction. This is hilarious to me given that last year we were pushed to become more strategy-driven.

I know we all probably just need to leave. But in the mean time im losing my sanity trying to do my job. Any advice?

Currently a consultant with opportunities in brand management (general manager/p&l type role less so brand marketing) and growth/digital marketing.

More interested in the brand management role but have also really wanted to know how to execute and optimize a campaign which I would get to do in the growth marketing role. Given I don’t have previous experience wanted to know whether execution is something I can learn on my own/ learn secondhand or something I need to work in to understand. Cont

Hello! Im an executive assistant looking to make a career change into brand strategy. I’m currently interning with our internal brand team and I’m learning a lot, but I’m not sure this will transition to a position.

What other skills/training should I pursue to be able to snag at least an entry level position at an agency or a brand? I have a BA in Cultural Anthro, but do I need to get an MBA to get ahead in this field?

Interviewing for a mid-level producer role in-house at an established/well known tech company, NY office. I’ve only ever been agency-side so really have no idea what to give as my salary expectations. 5 years experience, currently at 100k. Benefits are comparable (except now I’ll get equity). But I hear that at both brand-side and tech you can expect higher. If I asked for 140k would I be laughed out of the room?
