Hey all- anyone experience difficulty with MBA apps due to being an over-represented minority? (Not sure how one would quantify this, but curious to see what yall think)

I lied about my race on my apps and got into an M7.

I regret nothing.

For clarity: got into Two M7s, an interview at an HSW, and 3 other top 10s (with a half scholarship at one of them)

Stats (GPA and GMAT): unfortunately it’s the reality that as an ORM, this is a basic necessity. Good thing is you check this box!

Recs: my take is that unless one of your recs is from a “high-profile” individual who can also write a very intimate letter, then your recs are also a basic necessity (assuming your writers are writing intimate letters).

Story: this is where you can add a lot of value and where you can stand out from other candidates. Sure there are a sea of consultants also applying, but I’m confident your future goals and past experiences are different from there’s. Additionally, even on the slim chance they are exactly the same as someone else’s, can you convey your story in a more persuasive and compelling manner?

Extracurriculars: this should be complementary to your story. This is also an area where you can differentiate yourself.

Interest Signals: by this I mean how you display your interest in the program be it attending school visits, talking to students/alumni, interacting with the AdCom, etc. How much weight depends on the program. For example HBS does not give two shits whether you proclaim your love for the school. On the other hand, I’ve found that Booth and Kellogg both care very much about community fit and are receptive in this area.

I was a month in as Workday HCM Consultant with Accenture. They immediately throw me into the HCM courses to obtain my WD HCM certification. There are three parts HCM Essentials, HCM Applied, and HCM Practical. The passing score is 70 or above. I scored a 62 on the Essentials portion, I passed Applied, and at the end of this week Practical. During class, I received an “immediate connect” Team call and I was fired because of my low score. I'm devastated, and shocked. Yesterday was my birthday.

Hi all!
Would love some insight on how you went from an HR assistant/coordinator to an HR Generalist. I’ve been in the HR world for 8 years, and only in the last 2-3 have I really done real HR work. The first company I was at didn’t have a solid HR team so I don’t really count that. I feel like I’m ready to take on more responsibility and learn more. And of course make more money.

I have looked into getting SHRM certification. But should I go back to school and get my masters in Hr?

Found out today I’m 5 weeks pregnant. I am not sleeping well at night, feeling tired all day and at times about to fall asleep at my desk. It’s not affecting my work product per se but I takes me more time to go through things (I cannot keep a steady 8hr of billing). Should I tell the people I work with? They’re women with kids so I think (hope) they’d understand but I also started recently at the firm and the go-to advice seems to be just wait until 3mos…

Internalized racism is the biggest demon Asians are facing today. As someone who grew up in Asia, it's hard to understand that mindset.

Why do you put up with Asian jokes?
Why do you refuse to date Asians?
Why don't you fight for our justice?

I have so many questions. If you don't respect yourself, how can you expect others to respect you. You hate being us, but I bet you still love sushi, pho and use technology created by us.

People don't have the power unless you choose to give them.
