Deloitte I have been on my current project since September 2020, and am feeling some burn out. My current contract ends at the end of this month. I am considering sitting on the bench for some weeks, maybe a month to rest. Is that pushing it? How long is too long? My utilization rate is currently in the 90ish range.

What about freelance / grad school?
Freelance is a great way to keep sharp. Find a smaller startup company and help them get started for a smaller rate - then use that as an employment filler. It shows initiative.
Sorry about this. Since your targeting DS and PM have 2 different targeted resumes. Make applying for a full time job your full time job. I really mean it. When I started applying for jobs hours a day, after a week or so I’d have back to back interviews. Lastly consider doing some contract work PM is easy but BA is even easy work. Not to hard to find is you go through an agency. Good luck
Absolutely . Sorry misinterpreted lol. Appreciate the feedback its def helpful
If anything, this is one of those moments that will define you, and your future. You could have broken down entirely and given up, and instead, you decided to make the best of your situation and put yourself to work, to learn, and to grow. Keep pushing forward, OP.
The last 6 months are out of your control and a potential employer shouldn’t hold that against you. It sounds like you are doing all the right things and it’s just a matter of time until you get an offer. You could consider volunteering on a project just to get some experience if you are worried about the gap.
Makes sense, thanks a lot for the encouragement. I will definitely be looking into that just as others on this thread suggested as well. Best of luck to you and everything you do!
and actively applying*. For further context, I have worked heavily in a mix of strategy consulting and pivoting into product management for b2b services. Have been taking plenty of PM courses and some data science related lessons to keep the "skillset" sharp. Most recently, had a killer first few rounds with a potential employer before getting slashed because the hiring team felt the employment gap was a concern. Whats the best course of action here? Build a portfolio? Get relevant certs? Consider career switch?
