Hey all! Have any of you here ever gone through an acquisition/merger at your company? Just curious on if/what changed and did you enjoy the change?

I think it really depends on who is acquiring you and why. I was at indeed when we were acquired as well as oversaw some acquisitions we have done. When we were acquired new leadership came in alongside our existing leadership, we got more money to spend on advertising, we increased our focus on international markets. All in all culture stayed the same and things are good. We also made a couple of acquisitions. In 2 of them the product ended up not working out. Team members who were a good fit were moved to other products at indeed and the location became another dev office for us. Many people from the original company ended up leaving (although they got massive pay raises for a few months before they did). In the most successful acquisitions, the product was a great fit and it became tightly integrated into our core offerings. The leaders of the acquired companies became influential leaders at indeed and helped shift our cultures a little closer together. None of those stories is that terrible, luckily, but I've also heard lots of horror stories of everyone being fired, wages slashed, painful series of never-ending reorgs. So ... Good luck!

Oof that’s tough sorry to hear about that, I guess it could go either way, hope you got a decent payout though!

Thanks for the detailed response!! That’s cool to hear you’ve been on both sides of the coin, and glad to hear you’ve had a pretty positive experience. Totally get the whole “fit” part, I think that’s more important than people realize as you would assume that if a company were to acquire another, then obviously it has to be a fit, but I think there are definitely better fits than others

For all ex-Deloitte 🐠 I’m in advisory. Leaving 3 months before my 2 years is up. How does the sign on bonus repayment work? Do they take it out of our final check? Or PTO payout? If I wanted to talk to someone about prorating the amount to pay back, who would that be and at what point do I do that? I appreciate any input!

Any tips for transitioning to maternity clothes? Did you put away “normal” clothes that didn’t fit or choose a section of the closet for maternity and bigger sizes? We have limited space, but I also don’t want to get too cozy in my new size large clothes and forget about all of the pretty, smaller things I used to be able to wear. 😩 Only first trimester but have already had to go up a size and feeling scared.

Nightmare situation today at my first Zoom trial. On Friday, the court said trial would begin at 1:30 PM on Monday. We informed our clients and all our witnesses to be ready at that time. Never got a Zoom link, figured it would show up Monday morning. At 9:01 AM on Monday, we get an email saying, among other things, “Defense counsel has not appeared for trial.” Then, another email came immediately after that, with a Zoom link included. It’s just me and the paralegal in the office at this point.

I’ve been on a project that have brought me a lot of stress and lately medical issues, I just had another panicky attack today where my left side was numb for a good hour and my heart was racing. My husband asked me to quit but idk why I am afraid. I have a 1 year old baby that I am taking care of as well. The PM on the project told me that she would roll me off once she finds a replacement but it has been 1month now that I am trying to keep my head up ctd
