I'm currently in the process of of a grad job application with KPMG for a tech consulting role. My background is a degree in accounting (2:1 Hons) and 10 months audit experience.

I want to know what skills i should learn to make my application standout as much as possible during this stage. Currently i have 0 coding knowledge or any other tech skills for that matter, but i'm eager to learn more.

McKinsey & Company what band does a principal architect role fall in?

Does higher vault ranking (v10-30 compared to v80-100) open more doors for corporate in-house opportunities for a senior associate? If chambers practice area rankings and expected billable hours are similar and they offer the same DPW pay scale, does it matter less? Is it better to stay at/lateral to a firm where you might be able last longer to learn the necessary skills? Any personal anecdote or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have a close friend who is facing a small dilemma which is not allowing him to decide if he should join NIIT or a European company as a Manager recruiter. At NIIT he is supposed to recruit call centre professionals whereas the other company is an IT consulting and service provider. Also in the European company he gets to manage an internationally diverse team. The salary offered is almost the same. He is confused majorly because NIIT is a brand and the other is not. So I had this interview on Friday, and I found the whole experience to be quite negative

First, in the initial outreach I had to ask 3 times for a compensation range. Second, the recruiter seemed so disinterested and distracted the entire time.

Any other similar experiences out there?

I need insight on these “Tell me about a time” interview questions. I understand the response format (Situation, Task, Action, Result) however, I’m having difficulty with needing to have a story for a hella ton of scenarios when they’re asking these questions. Any tips/ tricks to pass this type of interview? So aggravating when interviewing and 90% of time in the interview are these questions and the last 10% are about your experience/ skills. Feel like I’m not able to really express myself.

(1) I recently interviewed for a senior auditor position at a company and hadn’t heard back from them so I followed up. The recruiter’s response was that I was still being considered for the position but the team had moved forward with other candidates that were better suited due to their experience. The recruiter also said that they enjoyed my interview but the team felt I needed a bit more work experience and that they would reach out if they would like to move forward with me.

I’ve recently interviewed for an EA/Special Assistant role to CEO, VC and then f2f with the CEO, plus also met current EA. CEO has just returned from 3 weeks leave this Monday and EA has been in touch to let me know “CEO would like to find another time to speak with me this Friday” - We had discussed salary, start date and intro’d me to others in office but CEO also asked if I would find role limiting so unsure what to expect… 30 mins video call in for Friday. Thoughts on what to expect?

What should I ask a new potential employer on an interview?

Does anyone have tips for the structured interview process at a federal agency? I’m trying to transition from impact litigation at a non-profit to an agency focused on trade and consumer protection. I’ve received private sector offers but can’t seem to make it past the first round for federal government. I must have the appropriate credentials to receive an invitation at all and have researched behavioral interview prep—what am I missing?

Question: so towards the end of the interview, I asked the interviewers "so I notice you have both been here for over 14 years, why have you guys stayed here for so long?"

Is that rude? My main reason was I wanted to see what it would be like being at this company. I don't want to job hop from one company to another company. But that could have sounded negative.
