Hey all looking for some friendly advice - moved to the Big4 in early January after being at my previous employer (out of undergrad) for 18 months. This role here is not what I had imagined (or what they told me it would be). Have tons of recruiters who constantly reach out for awesome roles with way higher pay. Is this a bad look on the resume being here less than a year?

Have a lot of recruiters DM you is not the same as “having multiple offers in awesome roles”, it might be another 2-3 month before you sign that awesome offer, then 1 year looks perfectly fine.

What role are you currently in, and what roles are the recruiters discussing with you.

Same exact boat man. Mulling an offer with capital one after only 6 months at D .

Capital one has a consulting culture, great for some people but not for me.

This could just be my personal experience (and I’m in the UK) but I’ve had a string of 9-16 month roles that have never held me back. Each one can be explained and I’ve always moved on to bigger and better things. For the most part companies have appreciated the fact that I was able to make quick decisions on why roles weren’t right for me.

Absolutely not! Your career path should be driven by your dreams not what you think companies will think…but have a very good reason for moving for example- my past work experience and school knowledge and skills will be much better fit for your position. Use covid as excuse for example- if the job you are applying for is in person say your current role is mostly remote and you want to have the opportunity for full networking in person…or the other way around..and look even jobs with relocation, use moving to another city as a reason too

How do you interview when you just stated a role? I started a few weeks ago and hate the manager and culture. I have a couple of jobs I applied to months prior reaching out to schedule interviews but I don’t know when to schedule them as mostly the time conflicts.

Have been pinged for a possible role as Director of Operations at a promising looking startup with a 50%% pay increase & equity. It looks like an amazing opportunity.. but my husband and I have just started trying for our first kid, and I'm not sure about leaving the stability and benefits of Big 4, even though I feel like I have run out of career growth here. Has anyone changed jobs at a similar point, or worked at a startup as a new mom, that might be able to share perspective or opinions?

Hi all! For an experienced hire as a Human Capital Consultant at Deloitte, what should I expect the salary/sign-on bonus to be at a MCOL city? I have approx. 3.5 YOE (non-consulting), MBA and MS degree (non target school) and also SHRM certified (which is probably irrelevant for the role but thought I’d share anyways). Already did my research but the range is kind of all over the place for experienced hires so just want to have a ballpark. Thanks!

Just got a lateral hire offer for a Sr Associate role with BCG. Contract states that I can go for Consultant promo in 12 months. I'm interpreting this as, if I don't make the promo threshold in 12 months, I'd be counseled out. Is this a reasonable assumption? Or would I get a few more months of time to work on feedback? I'm nervous - should I be? :(

Any tips for someone who discounts good feedback but heavily focuses on the opportunities to improve? So much that I have a fear of getting fired despite receiving overall good feedback. I started a new job earlier this year. The function of the role and industry is new to me. My manager told me he generally has higher expectations than the rest of the organization. Originally, I viewed this as a great learning opportunity but can't help to think I'm not cut out for this and fear the worst.

I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.

I’m not currently looking for a change (I left for industry in 2020 and really like my job). When recruiters message me on LinkedIn I reply to them because you never know when I’ll be open in the future and I don’t want to burn bridges. This one recruiter messaged me about 6 weeks ago for an assistant controller position and I replied back saying I’m currently happy with my job and am a VP of Accounting so wouldn’t be interested in an assistant controller role. need advice. I have been working in an interim role as a portfolio manager. I was promised that the role would be mine. However, after doing the job for 2 months, I have been advised that we might not get the funding for the role and I might not get the raise and the title but my responsibilities will be the same. Its a political minefield. How should I back out elegantly that I need to be compensated fairly and competitively from this mess without burning any bridges

2 months in and already hate my life. Expectations not equal to reality. Getting told one thing, client getting told another. Might leave.
