Finished interviewing for an ATS role at Microsoft Wednesday. The interviewers said they were recommending me but I haven’t gotten any feedback from the recruiter. I’m at PwC S& and in consulting I always got at least a verbal yes day of or next day after interviewing. Does anyone know how long this usually takes? Do you get a verbal first or do they wait to have a contract?

Not sure what your experience or current role is now, imo the best way to get into it is spending several years in a technical role in the industry you’d sell to. That way you are intimately familiar with the work, challenges, pains/problems teams are dealing with so you can then pitch your solution to them by recognizing where they will see the most value, with the credibility of having real experience. I had sales roles for a couple years then 5 years of a technical role at a manager level
Use this time to interview senior executives who are your typical prospects. Ask them to give you 3 problems that are vexing them, regardless of whether your product can address them. If you have enough of these conversations, you will see a trend. Find a company that has a solution to the common problems these executives have and take a job there.
