I've worked at the same engineering firm for 4 years. I'm currently making $161k with only a $750 bonus, but excellent vacation (4 weeks, cash out anytime, rolls over indefinitely), 45 hours a week. That would be very rare. Are you sure you are short on budget? Three possibilities: 1) you're tight on expenses but not hours, these often come out of different financial buckets. 2) the partner signed an add-on to the SOW for the new resources. 3) the resources are not fully billed due to being new. Regardless, you should ask the partner about it. It shows you're thinking big picture about the project and not just doing your work with your head in the sand,
So crunch a four month project, for example, into a two-month project.
