It's always been a dream of mine to work at Google, specifically as a UX designer (currently transitioning into UX from visual design). I've been so afraid to apply to any jobs with UX title, Google or not, because I'm always doubting myself and telling myself I'm still under-qualified.
UX designers & hiring managers, what are the skills a designer must have to be "qualified" for a UX position? Keywords on resume? Certifications? Thank you all in advance!

Bootcamps, Udemy, IxD, YouTube, etc. There is infinite junior-level knowledge out there now.
Work on design fundamentals if you are going to be a designer. Design Thinking is easier for most people to learn than a good visual design base is. (I teach bootcamp at a number of big US universities -- I see my students struggle with visual design far more than UX process or research or anything else.)
Everyone wants to be UX now. The field is saturated with new grads. Aggressive bootcamp marketing certainly hasn't helped. Make sure you leverage your prior experience to set yourself apart, as your prior roles have meaningful learnings and experiences that you can carry forward into the new role.
Best of luck.
I don’t recommend focusing on UX writing. Learn the full scope of UX design and specialize in writing. The market demands a UX designer.
