How does one go about getting a diagnosis? I feel like I have ADHD but have just learned to deal with it. Would really like to learn if I truly do & what the next steps are in making any necessary life changes.

Hey I’m an ADHD coach with ADHD myself. I’d suggest talking to a therapist. If they try and send you to a psychiatrist, they will do that to give you prescriptions. However make sure to ask yourself if what you struggle with can’t be solved with habit changes first because pills can be pricy, especially since people usually tend to stay on them for many years.

I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 12. My family did not opt to put me on medication. I illegally discovered Adderall in college. Worked incredible. Got diagnosed after college & after having been fired from my first job. Passed the CPA exams on Adderall. Went off of it again. I do everything well at my job except for attention to detail within my excel files & emails. Will taking ADHD medication really fix this? Does anyone else have this issue and was it resolved by taking medication?

My therapist just told me I'm depressed..do you ever feel like they tell you things you hear a lot or could have figured out on your own? Like take care of yourself, it's ok to feel such and such, etc. I'm still newer to therapy so wondering if that's the common experience? Do you ever have moments where you're like wow that actually is eye opening and I wouldn't have gotten that from reading self help books and websites etc?

All I ask in return is for your feedback. I genuinely just want to help other people like me that have had a hard time dealing with their ADHD.

Just wanted to post an update. 68 weeks ago I posted about my drinking problems. It was bad. It’s been 8 months now without a single drink. I still can’t believe it. I still miss drinking. I’ve sat with coworkers and watched them drink. It’s not nearly as fun, but I am so thankful each morning I can hold my head up high. Will I drink again? I only said I would quit for 60 days. Can I have a beer? Some wine? A fine bourbon? I sometimes crave it. I guess there is the answer! You can all do this!

I’ve been having a super hard time concepting lately, especially knowing that the “concept” will mostly serve as a sticker to slap on the cover of a CVA and the top of a website. I feel like every pharma concept I’ve ever seen or created becomes so cheesy once it appears in tactics. Does anyone have any examples of HCP creative (non-DSA) that is both impactful and translates well into pharma tactics?

However, (i) I don’t speak French (it’s not stated as a requirement but I suppose there’s likely a preference for French speakers (ii) Have never lived in Montreal before and I am wondering if it’ll be worth a move from Toronto and (iii) If I even have a chance to come in at Manager level considering I have no prior consulting experience.

Does ADHD have a big impact on your memory? It feels like if I don't have constant reminders set or leave notes for myself I can forget ANYTHING even if it's really important to me. I think it's making my partner feel like I don't remember the things they say or don't care to listen. What can I do?? Not on medication but if it helps with this I'd take it.

Any advice for asking to work from home?
I started my job just over a month ago and the one day a week I work from home I absolutely love. I have an hour commute to the office all other days and I'd love to even just get one more day at home. My manager is not aware of my adhd and I have crippling fear and shame around it so I'd rather not tell him. The office environment I'm in is honestly any neuroduvergent's nightmare. I know it's probably wrong to not tell him but I don't want any judgement.

Diagnosed with ADHD at 40. Tried Vyvanse for a couple of months. It works in terms of depriving grogginess, afternoon post meal crash, and suppressing appetite (at times).

However, I still needed help planning/prioritizing my day,  listening and active note taking, and keeping myself accountable. So decided to replace meds with coffee. Also, the fact that most people on meds had to progressively increase their medication over time did not sit well with me. (cont'd)
