Hey Big 4 Partners, given independence constraints, I assume you buy investment properties. do you believe this to be superior to buying stocks, and what do you do to educate yourself in this process?

You can still invest in ETFs, RE is not the only option.

I own none...don’t care for the illiquidity of the asset. There are plenty of “safe list” funds with which to build a balanced portfolio. I’ve thought about it from a FCF generation perspective but don’t have the time to ID and diligence potential properties....would rather spend the time growing my business within the firm.

Why is this only directed to partners ? Lots of ya own investment properties.

Figured out of necessity, they had this figured out. Any insight to share?

A good diversified portfolio of investments will include some type of real estate - could be REITs, commercial real estate via limited partnerships, or direct owned as a rental property.

Not trying to be provocative, but are the US Entities of each firm generally considered to be the strongest talent wise? At least of the B4 I’ve been at, it felt like the US folks were operating at a higher level. Not even American so not trying to be “ohh omg USA numba onnee”

Working as an audit staff in big 4 shared service centre. It's been 2 years. I really don't like what I do there, also it seems I won't like what I'll be doing there even after becoming senior. Thinking of leaving and joining industry once ACCA qualified. (One more paper left). But people around me discourage that growth potential and earnings in industry are way less compared to public accounting. I know that too but I still want to leave. I'd like to stick to core accounting. Thoughts pls

I'm switching jobs and considering whether I want to roll over my 401(k). I have about $220k in my plan. Considering rolling it into an existing Fidelity IRA with a balance of about $50k. Since October of 2020, I've paid about $880 in "plan administrative fees" to my 401(k) provider as well as the fund expense ratios. It looks like Fidelity does not charge administrative fees on IRA accounts, so that seems to make it a no brainer, plus the investment options are much broader. What am I missing?
