Yes. Depends on company. NH is the only state in New England yes.
Pro
Yes lots of people live in nh and commute to boston.
I mean if you commute to Boston then you d pay Ma tax right ?
You often pay taxes in lived in and worked in through the year then at tax filing you calculate what is owed to each.
I worked 1 day a week in EY Boston office and only pay tax on that day. 4 other days WFH in Maine no mass tax. You put your work location when you charge time.
I dunno how it is for traveling consultants however
Working in MA and living is NH is not good from tax standpoint specially if you own a house in NH. Since you are geo-located to Boston office, EY will put your taxes in MA and you have to figure out residency status filing at year end, but credits will not be much to offset.
Additionally,, NH real estate taxes are high as they don't have any sales or income tax.
Now, if you can geo-locate to NH office, but have residence in MA - you come out in a really good situation
My experience has been the opposite. Live in NH, FWA to say I work from home out of NH. No Massachusetts taxes ever. And my property taxes are lower than they were in Massachusetts, and my backyard is Vermont mountains...the key is to get your work location to NH. Note the NH office EY has is touchdown only not a headcount office.
I don’t ever have to go to the EY Boston office. I am a traveling consultant who travels every week Mon to Thu and the Fri I can work from home
I live in NH and work in Boston. My job is hybrid so I only pay MA taxes for the time I work in MA (40%).
