Hey!
Does anyone have advice for how to prepare for Human Capital case interviews? I’m familiar with the Mckinsey 7S and PPT frameworks, but was wondering if there are any other recommendations from those who have gone through the interview process for HC roles recently?
I’m an experienced hire looking to make a career shift into human capital consulting, so any advice is helpful. Thanks!
I personally wouldn’t get to hung up on memorizing a ton of frameworks. Case interviews are all about how you think and logically structure problems. Just have fun with it.
Mine was super easy, just restate the problem and tell how you’d approach solving it using as many consulting buzzwords as you can
Restate your understanding of the problem. How would you go about validating the cause(s) of the problem (what quant / qual data would you seek out or collect and how - survey, interview, focus groups are typically a good option). Make some assumptions and state what interventions you would implement based on the problem you have validated. And how would you track and measure the effectiveness / roi of your interventions.
That’s a general structure I’ve used, both in grad school for I/O psych which was all HC cases, and in interviewing at Deloitte and interviewing folks for Deloitte.
There is a good HC practice case on the Deloitte recruiting website too
Which firm are you interviewing at? I’ve worked at both Deloitte and McKinsey so happy to help. Feel free to dm me.
