For over 15 years I held customer support roles in a variety of industries. At the same time developing skills in other areas; such as being ordained as a Zen priest and receiving an Integral Coach certification. After being laid off in May, I decided to pursue my coaching business full time.
My question is, for those who have sought out coaching, which area of your life did you focus on first and why?
I’ve been working at Paycor for about 3 years now under the Implementation department. I love my role but I can’t deal with the clients anymore. I have 9 years of work experience under my belt and want to move into a role more focused on organizational development which is under HR. I obtained my MBA focusing on org dev in 2020 and have been looking for a way to move into that area since. My question is what type of role should I be looking for? The depts are so different and I’m lost.
i was in teaching. left it for grad school. got internships and eventually full time jobs in HR, learning, and now consulting
to clarify, those jobs were in finance.
Is your degree in maths or teaching? If maths, that’s certainly a transferable degree that with some networking you could spin into an entry role… might have to go back to school though for a MBA or perhaps a MSF depending on what kind of finance you want to try and do.
Degree in Psychology, business was my minor and was always interested in it. Math has always been natural for me and ended up in a position where I was offered the role. The goal is to go back to school and figured that’s the next move. Just looking for entry level that would still allow me to pay the bills and go back for grad school.
