Hey everyone, I am a recent grad in Electrical Engineering and have about 6 months of experience in the field and looking to break into the tech companies into positions that would not require heavy coding but would relate more to my major, any suggestions and ideas on what roles to look out for?

Anything specific … ? Semiconductors or ?

Hm. Something in tech manufacturing?

I would think software engineer would probably be the most seamless transition.

I’m just looking for entry roles at tech companies that are more electrical based than being purely coding because I want to still be in the electrical field and was wondering what options are there for me to take, and if possible, what is the best method to apply for these jobs nowadays since many uses referrals and having limited positions at the moment. Thanks all for your replies too.

How do people in the IA profession motivate themselves? Personally, I love the fact that we are exposed to different business processes (rather than a specific number or subject matter), also I actually like the fact we are a bit more creative than the typical “in our less than humble opinion we think this number is not too incorrect” approach adopted by our external counterparts.

Additional Posts in Career Advice for Students

Im currently studying Industrial Engineering with a minor in management. I’m interviewing currently for consulting, and theres a VC course at my school that seems really interesting but I can’t fit it into my schedule without removing the last class I need for my minor. Would not getting that minor do any harm to me short or long term? Im thinking that if I end up at consulting especially no one will care about a management minor they’ll just look at the firm I worked for.

I have been looking at the curriculums for Harvard Business School's Master of Business Administration and Harvard Extension School's Master's in Management. They both have the same requirements, generally speaking, including a field immersion course that serves as a capstone in the Master's in Management, which is fairly new. If I am not able to gain admission to Harvard Business School, but wanted a similar educational experience to become a consultant, should I attend Harvard Extension?

Industrial Company:
- Would pay for grad school
- Comp is insane
- Work is more niche
- Company culture is rough
- MBB / tech exit
- smaller less known company

Tech Company:
- Cool company
- well known
- Enter tech early on
- Salary lower than other by a lot
- PM / Biz Ops exits

Both companies have good MBA placement. What would you do?
