McKinsey & Company Career advice needed. Thanks in advance. What would be a potential feasible path to make the transition from Big Four assurance role to MBB consulting role? I have 1 year experience in industry as FP&A and couple months as fund accountant before I graduated from school and went to Big four as IT auditor and could switch to core auditor ,cybersecurity or ECG advisory etc. I’ll get the CPA and CFA soon and have some basic coding skillsets. Considering to do MBA/graduate degree if necessary. McKinsey & Company PwC Deloitte
Marsh & McLennan McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Hi everyone. I am an international MBA student-athlete candidate trying to get into consulting.
I would like to know if anyone has any networking suggestion for internationals in my same situation.
Is there event to attend in the North/east area that I can use to leverage some connections? Online events?
Any type of comment is welcome.
Thanks

Deloitte GPS Business Analyst vs Mercer Health Consulting Analyst?
Deloitte's offer is 7K more and in a cheaper area. Equal interest in both jobs, slight preference for Mercer for people + culture. Leaning towards Mercer because I graduate in Dec and can start in Jan vs having to wait until next summer for Deloitte + location (although higher COL)
Concerns:
Exit opportunities
Pigeonhole-ing myself into health consulting / How hard would it be to join Big 4 in a year or two if I don't like it

I'm a CPA, started in audit and promptly switched to the consulting side. I don't have an MBA and haven't been disadvantaged by it in the least, but I suppose it depends on your circumstances and goals. If you don't plan to change industries/groups and you feel like you're good without it then don't waste your time.
Yes. Great network if you go to a good school. And, you will learn quite a bit.
SCs with MBAs make more than most who don't. Go get it. Especially if it's free.
If someone else is paying, do it. It will be time consuming and you may learn a little but the network has a lot of value.
I wouldn't do that. The loans can be crippling.
I did it only because Uncle D was paying for it. I'm back and on the fast track but wouldn't have paid out of pocket plus not getting paid for 2 years to do it.
Any personal stories or insights would be appreciated!
Lol more like learn a bit.
The network you develop in bschool will be worthwhile down the line. Even if you stay in consulting, they can be future clients.
Personal opinion, it's best for people who effed up their undergrad major choice and want to switch careers. It's a lot of $ to learn what you're probably going to pick up anyway. I've never seen it matter. If it's free, can't hurt I suppose.
Thanks for your thoughts everyone!
Let's say someone else is not paying for it...would it still be worth it if you don't have plans to change industries? Would you be able to pay off your student loans in a reasonable amount of time? Lol thanks!
