I am in a pretty much pigeonholed group for tax at B4. I was wondering for people who were/are in a similar situation how do you handle interviews for more general tax roles? Also any success stories are greatly appreciated as well! Need some motivationβ¦
I have been interviewing a lot for the past 2 months and while the B4 experience gets me interviews, Iβve yet to receive an offer. It has been really hard for me, so any advice is appreciated.

Hello all, I'm currently umenoyed on h1b with timer ticking. I have made through on-site rounds with Google and waiting for team matching. I have 4 weeks on h1b unemployment days. I have been seeing that team matching at google at times can be upto or moee than 2 months. And still chance for no offer after the wait. Should I take another company's offer and continue with Google application at later stage? Any suggestions on best course of action for me? Google @h1bvisa

Hello,
I hope to go into management consulting, and want to apply for EY-Parthenon. Does anyone have any tips on how to submit an application or even be considered for a full time role straight out of undergrad if you donβt come from a target school?
The professionals I have talked to as well as the website only allows target school (ivy league) undergrad students to apply through their respective portals.
How do I get a fighting chance?

OP - ππΎππΎππΎ from Technology Risk.
I suggest not going into tech risk. Hereβs why:
Youβll spend most of your time testing and documenting controls. This means meeting with process owners, sending our request lists, following up a million times on the request list and missing pieces, plus surprises that pop up along the way. Writing up narratives, creating flowcharts, figuring out how to use internal documenting/file sharing systems that are broken/clunky most of the time. TAKING SCREENSHOTS, inspecting said screenshots, finding issues, following up for more support. Sometimes itβs easy to read screenshots, which is boring, sometimes itβs a complex data file, which is not as boring but it is complicated and you have to understand it with minimal training and this skill isnβt really transferable. Your attention to detail skills will increase, but hard skills are pretty confined to tech risk and not super transferable. Idk if theyβre selling this to you as consulting, but itβs not true consulting.
Spent first part of my EY career in Tech Risk, and there is some truth to this comment, especially as a staff or early senior; however, I disagree about the transferability of the skills. Documentation skills are critical as a professional in any domain, and frankly many people lack skills in this area.
Also, thoroughly understanding how data is captured, processed, and reported in a variety of companies and industries is extremely valuable. Integrity of system processing and controls ensuring data is complete and accurate are important to all parts of a business...
Oh that means I didnβt pass the application π₯΄
Just a tip, you need to relax yourself while doing the interview. There will be several rounds of interview so you need to do your best on the first part so you can move forward thereafter. Prepare for the technicalities of your job and behavioral questions.
The best way to prepare for interviews is rehearsal. Do mock interviews to practice how to communicate yourself well.
You should go online and learn about case interviewing and do some practice.
Moreover, I suggest you to go on Glassdoor and look at the interview questions for the same position. You can find a lot of useful insights πͺπ«‘
Thereβs not going to be any case questions for an intern in riskβ¦all behavioral. Donβt come off as a weirdo and OP will be fine.

Yep, that's what I did and it was really helpful!
In addition to the suggestions above, you can also do your research about the company. List some possible questions and try to answer them. This will help you prepare for the interview. Good luck!
