Hey everyone, I just graduated from a non target and have a job lined up in Deals at a big 4 firm in a couple months. Really wanted to go into IB during undergrad but didn’t utilize LinkedIn as I should’ve to make connections. I’m doing that now even though I know it’s not recruiting season. I really want to land in IB w/o doing the whole accounting thing first. Shooting for MM IB. Is there anything I can do now to get in? I’ve been studying for my CPA in case I have to do deals first. Thanks!

I mean you could stay in Deals for a bit while you network to get something more relevant to what you want?

like

Reposted because I forgot to exclude my name! Whoops!

Just network. And study your technicals. Make sure you got the core technicals down (what is UFCF, walk through DCF, what’s WACC, etc). Source: same spot as you going thru process

Shouldn’t be a difficult move. Esp in your first year

Could take 2 years but that’ll be a decent timeline

Most of the projects in my team are of Digital Transformation and give a Business Analyst role. I'm a functional person with knowledge in Finance and Banking domain.

I don't mind a career in the digital space but I want to know how good are the exit options and the future prospects of making money as compared to core finance / risk consulting.

Thoughts please?

I work in insurance. I was working for an Allstate agent and was fired the day after my grandmothers funeral for being “unenthusiastic in our morning meeting”. Now I’m having anxiety searching for a job. I don’t think I want to sell anymore yet every single recruiter I interview with says I should, that I have a “salesperson mentality”. I’m burnt out. Has anyone else felt this way? How did handle it? Is there a different career path I can take or am I destined to sell insurance forever?

How do I get a job as a Mechanical Engineer if I dont have experience?

I couldn’t get an internship while in school. I have a BS in ME and projects from school under my belt. I’ve also passed the FE exam. I worked so hard to earn my degree and I feel like I’m not even using it. But who will hire me?

Rotational Program at Industrial Firm - 170K TC (Chicago)

Industrial Company:
- Would pay for grad school
- Comp is insane
- Work is more niche
- Company culture is rough
- MBB / tech exit
- smaller less known company

Tech Company:
- Cool company
- well known
- Enter tech early on
- Salary lower than other by a lot
- PM / Biz Ops exits

Both companies have good MBA placement. What would you do?

Hello,

Could you please guide me with the salaries of senior consultant in Big 4 in Canada ?
I know that it varies based on location, but what would be a competitive salary for Toronto , Ottawa and Vancouver?

Hi! I have worked in management roles in tech, mainly in analytics, for approximately 10 years. My TC has fluctuated (currently around 135K CAD), but it seems like it's relatively easy to breach the 100K bar, but hard to breach the 150K bar. I now work at the CBC, but I have worked in the private sector too. What is the most realistic way to move to 200K? 1) Continue moving the ladder to a VP position, 2) Switch to Pre-Sale, 3) Switch to Consulting, 4) Work from a U.S. company from Canada.

Am I setting myself up for failure if I push for associate offer?
Got a Bb offer and team is open to me joining either as a senior analyst or junior associate. With 2 yrs of ft exp and lengthy internships before that, I feel like I'm ready for the associate role. However, team head wanted to make sure that I don't underestimate the step-up it'll require on my end and that it'll be very intense. Any thoughts? Many thanks in advance!
I feel like I'd ramp up and it'll be stressful either way.
